Just noticed something. I have one pot with four seedlings well three one is stuck at the cotyeldons and isnt growing. I unfortunately used organic miracle grow with added perlite. This bag of soil contained little hopping insects silver. Well, I just looked at the pot and the pot is covered with ants. Is it possible that the ants are eating these insects or are they attacking my roots. Oh yeah the plants are on my balcony only really gets afternoon direct sun about four hours.

Northern Lights Calcium Deficiency

After looking at his guide I believe I have a calcium deficiency. Anyone know how to mix dolomite lime into water? Or a method of how to turn it into powder? I crushed it pretty good with a spoon then poured it into the water i was gonna water my plants with but all the dolomite lime just sit on the bottom of the jug. Any ideas. Here is a pic to help confirm calcium deficiency. Click on it for a better view. Also a pic of my current grow for kicks, 3 northern lights and 5 Lowryder #2's

I use GH Flora 3 part with the same ratios as the chart for veg (3:2:1) and CalMag+, a transition in the first three weeks of flower from the veg nutes to Lucas(2:3 micro:bloom) and CalMag+.

Tell us about your ventilation, intake exhaust and when its running and not running ?

I have ~13 cubic feet NGB split for veg and flower. I have a 4" exhaust, 14" intake total. Each grow chamber has it's own intake. Each grow chamber vents to the utility room then out the cab. I use a bake a round cool tube for the hps. I have a pc fan in each grow chamber blowing on the bulbs and the tops of the canopy. All fans run 24/7.

Is the fan blowing directly at plants?

Somewhat, the pc fans are low cfms, only blowing across canopy

Is the grow substrate constantly wet or moist?

I water thoroughly and wait for the pots to dry before watering again.

Is your water HARD or SOFT?

soft hard, lol

What water are you using? Reverse Osmosis (RO)? Tap? Bottled? Well water? Distilled? Mineral Water?

Town water (15ppm) and fluctuates between a ph of 8 and 6.5 depending on how much rain we get. More rain lowers the ph. I also use native spring water that is averaging 6.5 to 7.5ph. This spring water comes off the mountain and registers .000ppm on my calibrated Milwaukee T75. I'm wondering if I have a micro nutrient def. because of the low water ppm.

Are you using water from a water softener?

no - when using town water I evaporate chlorine for 72 hours. I used warm tap water the first week of flower because I thought the chlorine evaporated quicker. Could I have introduced bacteria from the water heater? I didn't do this after the first week of flower (didn't do it at all in veg.)

Has plant been recently pruned, cloned or pinched?

No.

Have any pest chemicals been used? If so what and when?

No.

Are plant's infected with pest's?

fungas gnats, not very bad. I may see 3 or 4 when I pull the pots out to water. I've been trying to let the pots get a little dryer between waterings than usual. I try to water before I see any dry droop.

I hope you can help me out, here's the pics:

First signs, the plant is medium green, might be a slight nitrogen def. Then I get this: (appeared in the second week, bottom of plant, large fan.)




Second to third week, nitrogen def not as bad with exception of afflicted lower fans:



Beginning of 4th week, plant size is somewhat diminished, bud size is small for this stage of growth: At first, half the leaf seemed to be affected. Now, one or two individual leaves seem to be affected on both sides (second pic.)






I'll give you more pics if needed.

I smoke in the grow room. I read a thread or two about the tobacco virus. Any thoughts on this if apply?

PS - forgot to mention I used peat seed starter with lime for the veg stage. Everything seemed to be all right until a few days after transplanting to the flower mix listed above. I later discovered that the seed starter has a lower lime content than typical flower mixes. I read a thread that says peat is okay until roots start to spread. Could I have a hot spot problem going on due to the peat root ball?

I am in the 7th week of flowering and noticed a lot of fungus gnats, large and small, as well as larva on the roots. I also noticed one of my plants droping just like the picture that describes root rot. I am using a hydro system with buckets and rocks just like the picture that shows the roots coming out of the mesh pot. In addition, my flowers are really small for being in the 7th week.What would you recommend I do.

I used it for the first time in week 5 (since 2nd week of flower) and was considering adding 1/2 tsp per gal each watering, (won't need water for a couple of days.) I wanted your thoughts first. This is a ~12 week strain.
