Spidermites during Flower

Generally they have a cost (not excessive anyway) but 30 dollars for 1000 units seem to me too many
try to see on sites or companies that produce antagonists for professional fruit garden companies..dont look inside growshop for cannabis.
the same products when addressed to cannabis cost 100 times more.
However I am in Europe(italia) and for they low cost i usually use several predators against the same problem..
Koppert and bioplanet are the companies where I bought

Ps I correct: the cost for the mite predator ( ambyseius andersoni polyphagous predator) is 58 dollar for 25000 unit.
The phytoseiulus persimilis(specific predator only of spider mite) costs 60/70 dollars for 10000 unit.

Can you afford to revegetate your plants? Spider mites are so much easier to get rid of during the vegetative stage using only organic means.

I dont know where you buy or which species have you used but they have always worked where they were used. If you have a specific problem is better to use specific predator. Crisopha work well in prevetion this is true because in the absence of specific prey can go on other.
Ladybug dont eat spider.. this is joke.
I don't know the prices in your part but here 50,000 individuals(persimilis, andersoni, swirski)are on 30/40 dollar.

However it is interesting. thank you for the information. I'll try.

Ps do you use crisopa in prevetion or when you already have a spider attack?

Both they also work very well curatively! Most of the times I wait till I see the first signs. Main reason is I avoid using insecticides because then the predators are much less effective. I always put them in coffeefilters on the stems and have to wait untill plants reach certain size. By the time they reach the size I most of the times see the first signs.

It is my fault because I don't have the possibility to quarantine my grow area from the rest of the house, I have pets, a garden and a greenhouse and mother collection full of resistant to everything zombie spider mites.

I never had. success with ladybug larvae but many people insist they are good for mites.

The Chrysopa is multi functional, it will eat aphids, mites , trhips etc... If there are only mites they will eat mites and also their eggs.

Hey I am from Europe and I buy at biobest. But that price is about right. They are much larger and you don't need that many. I use 2000 per tent curatively. Place them in coffeefilters tied to the plant with elastic or something bout 2-3 per plant on different locations.

Also check the top of your canopy and see that it is not too warm, most predators avoid the top layer because of that. I would hang the lamp a little higher when you get them. Try to get to max 24 degrees on the top of your canopy.

They're three weeks into flower today and we have a ton of bud growth, it doesn't make sense to reveg them especially since I have so many in veg currently. I do however plan on holding off on putting anything new into flower until I figure out this infestation.

Can you please show a picture of your spider mite infestation?

It's nothing crazy yet, no webbing but a lot of the leaves are starting to look like this.

Don't spray anything on flowering plants, not even safe things. The only thing you can spray in flowering is water. Buds absorb anything you spray and you can't wash it off.

You will be lucky if you can get rid of them. After trying everything, I shut it down for a long time and bombed the place. That worked.

Mites like dry, hot temps.
If you can, lower the temperature, they breed faster in hotter weather.

All of these sprays that have been mentioned work. But the key is to always switch up. Mites and other pests quickly build tolerance from several sprays of same pesticides.

In warm dry temps they can mate and give birth in under a week. So I spray every three days, whether I see pests or not.

You will need a good ipm strategy after they are gone, to make sure they can't get another foothold.

Soapy water works great. Oils also. Anything that will suffocate them.

I cycle thru these different sprays.
Neem.
Karanja
Dr. Bronners soap
Spinosad (indoors only. Not bee friendly)
Azamax
Pyrethrin
Peppermint oil
Canola oil.

Soaps and oils will cause pistils (stigmas) to wither, so should only be used in veg unless really necessary.

Key is to completely cover all leaf surfaces.
Soap, yucca, sm-90, Optic Foliar are great for breaking surface tension of water and helps to completely cover the plant.

Does this damage the plant? I was reading about this the other day but I was concerned that it would damage the leaves or bud.

According to the CALICLEAN tutorial it won't damage anything but the mites:

The method is so benign, you may use this method even during flowering - without a single harm to your precious plants.

I hate when that happens!!

And CLEAN, clean clean your area.

Here's what I've used to control a mild infestation of spider mites: Mix 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar (white vinegar is fine too) with 1 cup of water, 1 t of baking soda & a few drops of mild dish soap into a spray bottle.

Wont' harm the buds. Good luck!

Have you looked at the critters under a scope to make a positive ID?
