Broad mites are a cakewalk too, Magus for the knockdown and Pylon for the knockout. 1 2 Combo...

Rolldaddy- This thread is 5 years old haha, a newer more relevant thread being bumped with this question would have been better. Answer to your question is no, never spray anything on your plants with the lights on. The droplets can magnify and burn your plants, the mist can hit your bulb and cause it to blow. Whatever you decide to use do your research, many products such as the ones you mentioned in the right amount can burn your plants by themselves. I myself prefer floramite to kill these bastards dead when prevention fails.

Just to clarify this comment.....

There is a growers myth that water droplets can magnify the light causing a lens effect and that can burn your plants....

Its been proven thats not actually what happens....

A droplet contain most anything.... say fertilizer will evaporate under the lights condensing the fertilizer in the droplet....and this can cause a burn.....

It has also been proven in another way....

To magnify the sun the lens has to be some distance from the leaf.... this is callled the focal distance.....

Droplets on leaves dont have a focal distance.... consequently no lens effect.....

Leaf Scorch Myth

  • It is a myth that watering during the middle of the day causes leaf scorch. The myth is that if you water the plant during midday the water droplets will magnify the sun and burn the plant. This is not true, according to Dr. Linda Chalker-Scott, a horticulturist for Washington State University. There are many different causes of leaf scorch and fresh water is not one of them.

Mighty wash

Mighty wash

Mighty wash. If you have money to burn. Just spray once a week. Twice a week if bad "covered" with mites. Dunk clones twice before flower room . One time then four days later. I have heard you can "drink the stuff" I would not recomend it. I have battled these bastards for years. Oil's are for squids ...cause I don't like smoking oils. Expensive yes, works good yes, Large grows get one of those Foggers and let it rip for a couple hours. (cover lights and hoods)...I swear If I ever get them again I may go to the dark side and use some of the Carcenogenic stuff..I'm not even efing kidding. In fact , the new method of "The mighty bastards" may be to use some of the more "carcenogenic" stuff on mothers then use "mighty wash" on the clones and into flowering...and if anyone here knows me I would of never ever said this before. But may be less toxic way of handling these facktard bastard fucks. I will never ever again take a clone in from anyplace PERIOD...!!!

The best stuff for mites....

forbid 4f.....bayer

no question....

forbid is distinctly better than floramite sc....

rawdog has it right...

Kill Spidermites with (miticides) - Floramite + Forbid

forbid does not need to be rotated with another mite control product because its almost impossible to become resistant to forbid....

that is unlike floramite....

Ya..I can dig it

Thats why I almost bought a "fogger" last time. But decided to sterilize everything and start from scratch. No mo clones for this kid ...thought I was smart and it woked well for a while . Letting other people provide the genetics...No MO...I went thirty years with no problem and then I was in the depths of hell for a few years. No Mo....But will still dunk clones from my OWN mothers... in "mighty wash" thats how spooked I am.LOL...

Thanks for all the input. I started growing in the south and that's when I learned about spider mites. Backthen when I dealth with them And I used avid once and they were all gone.

Now I am in the north east. By reading posts on this site I have learned about broad mites.
I currently do not have a mite infestation. Soon I will be flipping my room to 12/12. When I was at home depot I saw they carried neam oil so I figured I should buy it and use it just a precaution before I flip it. Since this year we had a warm winter I was under the impression
we will have a larger bug population so I figured better safe than sorry.

As for the myth that spraying your plants while lights are on will burn them, I don't buy it. Since I got into this I have allways used hid lights which are the brightest IMO. Also during veg I foliar feed while lights are on, plus I have always misted them with straight water through veg and flower and have never burned my leaves or busted any bulbs. I mist my plants not the light bulb. So what I wad asking is that if neam oil is harsh and if could hurt my girls if I spray them down with that while lights are on? But I guess that doesn't matter. I don't go into my room while the girls are sleeping. During veg or bloom. Even the one time I used avid I did it while lights were on and no side effect. It just got rid of those little bastards

Peace

I thinks its just a good rule of thumb.

Try using Captain Jacks dead bug with lights on. Your shit will end up looking like the current Sammy Sosa( not when he was black, but when he bleached himself white). I thought exactly like you. Foilars with lights on, all sorts of other diluted sprays. So with that mindset, i was like...sure ill use this captain jack shit on my girls with lights on, like I always have with other sprays. Well needless to say..they got burnt bad, stunted, all sorts of torture. I like good looking girls, not ones with 59 birth marks on their faces.

Just be careful, always do a tester leaf man. Trust me lol

I used oil for a long time time and it does work well,I just don't like oil. It will turn up in your taste if you use it in flower. As for lights on spraying it's well known you should not do this. Take it as you will. Best time to spray is about two or three hours before lights come on . You can use one of those green lights that connect to a baseball cap is what I would use. I hope your grow turns out spectacular

Maybe your rite. I've never used neam oil before. Like I said I was considering using it just as a precaution before I flip them. That's why I came on this forum to get input on it. I will do it before the lights come on and before I flip them. I know if I go in there with a green light they won't see that light. But I don't like opening the door while they sleep because I know some light will enter the room. But I guess it's not the end of the world if I haven't flipped them yet
