Cilantro tea, ice-cold water, lavender tea, dish soap, isopropal alcohol are organic methods recommended which preclude the possibility of breeding super-mites.

I've had success (touch wood) keeping mites under control simply by spraying the underside of leaves with a jet of cold water whilst holding the plants upside down, blasting the mites and eggs down the drain.

If you stay vigilant and spray every couple of days or so, ensuring you get every leaf completely drenched, you should really dent their reproduction and may even rid them completely.

That combined with bleaching your grow area.

It can be hard work if you got many plants but is very effective if you don't want to mess with chemicals.

Peace

Nice ! thanks a lot piff this seems to be the most convenient action for me to take right now as far as getting rid of them !

the mites are driving me nuts !!
this helps a fuck ton to say tha least lol

I have recently dealt with/am dealing with spider mites for the first time. I talked to the local grow shop guy and he hands down recommended AzaMax. AzaMax is a neem oil extract basically, and if you use it with the methods already listed in this thread (such as spraying under leaves, breaking up grow cycles every 3-4 days, etc), it's pretty effective. I experienced damage to a few plants early on in veg due to spider mites. I hit it hard with AzaMax spray, both from above and below the leaf, not being cheap with my applications and thoroughly wetting everything, and it's worked pretty well. I've noticed no further mite activity and still continue spraying with Azamax weekly as a preventative measure. I plan on continuing to spray it until week 6 or 7ish of a 10 week bloom schedule. The package indicates you can go until much later, but I don't want to push it...

Also, I'm convinced I got my spider mites from some soil mix I got from the local home impovement warehouse type place. I had no problems with a previous crop in the same area, but when I got that soil and added it, the problem began.

Can I get azamax at Home Depot or do I have to go to a hydro store?

anon; i have AzMax already and the guy at the hydro store says when i mix it i can't let it sit for long therefor he says i basically have to use it all once its mixed . do you agree i have to mix a new batch every time i want to hit the plants ? if so i should buy much more

I got some Neem oil (weaker than AzaMax) at Lowes which is a big box store like Home Depot. When you mix it with water it is like 1/8 teaspoon with the water in the spray bottle. The directions say just use it once and throw away the left overs. I also add a drop of Natural Ivory liquid detergent for a wetting agent. Don't use regular detergent as it kills the plants. I am guessing the AzaMax has some sort of wetting agent in it.

Floramite. One spray and you will never see them again :). Also the thing about lowering your temps is not true. I had some mothers that got below freezing i took in from a friend and at two weeks in the 25F-35F range. They were still alive and kicking :p

I don't buy the idea that you have to use all of it at once. I can see it maybe seperating over time, but shake the bottle up and you should be fine.

Some one suggested cold water from the hose.

If you happen to be infected very bad. I would take all plants outside if you can move them. Give them a extreme trim down, pretty much chop every leaf off the plant. then squirt branches with water from the hose. You could use the shower if needed. But the garden hose is best. Try not to let the water go into the pot. Hold the plant at a angle to the ground.
Clean grow room an return bald plants to the room. You could then spray any stuff you have like azamax or neam oil. Or if extreme chemicals are needed 2 ounce avid bottle on amazon.

yeah im just hitting them hard tomorrow , i had a huge mis understanding with my partner today and he thought i was implying to cut the plants so therefore he started pulling them from the hempy cups as i walked in i asked ''WTF ARE YOU DOING?! he realized we were not on the same page and to make a long story short im nursing them back and might have bigger problems than i thought . thanks for all the good feedback tho greatly appreciated !

What did you end up doing? Azamax? Hosing them off? Some combo? Might as well give your how and why so others who find this post in the future can benefit from a full catalog of your experience.

Well my partner mis interpreted a conversation we had between a text message and comes to the op and starts pulling the plants from the the hempy buckets

When I flipped my lid and explained that what he was doing was not what I intended he felt extremely dumb , but I then took the plants and hit them with cold water and placed them back in the hemoy buckets and have been doing good ever sense
