Spider Mites! Help!

r_Blunt: I'm not certain whether or not another type of dish detergent will work. The recipe i read specifically said "Ivory dish detergent (any kind except antibacterial)". It didn't really clarify why Ivory is used. I found it to be effective, though. You might just want to wash the leaves of the plant after the mites are all gone, because the spray can leave some dried up particulate matter on the leaves. Doesn't hurt the plant at all, that i can tell, but it looks much nicer once the leaves have been cleaned.

Hidhut.com has 1 ounce bottles of Flormite for 30 bucks if you dont want to spend 300 for the regular bottles..oh and i've seen CA super mites that webbed a new no pest strip in 2 days...Borgs suck

Bump, I've resorted to Floramite too.

Best thing I've found by far. After one spray if you get all the spots you have to TRY to find a live mite. A few ml's make a whole gallon of spray and it's odorless.

No pest strips work minimally... and/or do nothing for my rooms but I keep at a preventative.

Two spotted spider mites can go dormant and cause grief for great periods. Insect soap every 5 days for a couple of times then pytherins 2 times 5 days apart will interrupt the life cycle that is the key. They love dry weather even misting with water helps control them.If you spray with insect soaps be sure to spray a lot not missing anything.Spider mites love stressed plants and low humidity.

here is some life cycle stats they may help ;;Twospotted spider mites overwinter as adult females. Egg laying begins in late April or May and hatch in 5 to 8 days into the protonymph stage which later molts to a deutonymph stage. These nymph stages have four legs. Thereafter follow the adult stage with 8 legs. The time from egg to adult normally requires about 3 weeks, but may take less time under hot and dry conditions. Depending on weather conditions, 5 to 10 generations may occur within a growing season.

Spider mite reproduction and population multiplication will persist until cool weather of late summer leads to a reduction of population activity. In the spider mite outbreak of 1988, many heavy infestation totally collapsed around late August. A population collapse may be due to an epizootic of a fungal organism that attacks mites. Obvoius is that indoors can be different.

2 words PCO fogger!!........it says cb total release PCO fogger with pyrethrins 5oz. bottle

i had mites for months tried other pyrethrin bombs, neem oil, peepermint spray, everything multiple times..

one release of this bomb, and i forgot what a spidermite looks like, no joke ...released one 5oz can in a 10x10 room, no problem.

it has pyrethrins wich mites can get immune to real quick, BUT the PCO has 1.00% N-Octyl Bicycioheptene ( MGK 264 - insecticide synergist) whatever that is lol...but i think its hard for mites to build up immunity to that particular inreg.
