Spanish Strains

Hey guys,
im going to be doing my first outdoor grow this year in north central california. Our summer climate (relative warm and no rain at all) is nearly identical to spains. I need to find a strain with drought resistance (as i wont be able to reach my plots easily to water) and perhaps mildew resistance as well, which finishes with commercial type yields before the first rains in mid to late october. anyways, if anyone knows of such a strain, i would be grateful if you included it here. im guessing that Spain has great strains for me as the climate is identical and i know theres a good cannabis culture there. thanks guys

well, mandala use spain landrace genetics . regarding yields and speedy flowering i think that theyr Speed Queen is just great, 55 days indoor of flowering and really dense nug covered with sugar...

mhhhh.. i wish i had more of that :D

if you want it to grow with little or no water, you want Moroccan, wild seeds [I have 2 batches for just this, my first experiment] grow with little or no water in the mountains there, they are not that potent, but are tough. Through some breeding and careful selection you should/may be able to isolate the drought gene the 'roccy plants have in the same way the Joint Doctor has with Ruderalis' autoflower gene.

When you have done this, can I please be the first in the very long queue for seeds ?

Femaleseeds.nl sell Maroc, a developed version of the mountain Moroccan, but I guess she has also developed a taste for the odd drink too....

Julians excellent attempts to cover the whole planet in Ganja are helped by swell gel, polymers that hold water for months, sounds like you could do with some too ! Good Luck

Beautiful picture! I wish I could to move to California. Lots of sun, warm, dry beautiful landscape.

Just need a good-paying job and a place to stay. :p

Sigh...

thanks for the responses!

dimebagdk: i don't necessarily need speedy flowering, as it doesnt frost here until late November. I'll definitely be checking out mandala's genetics tho. thanks :)

chaos - thankyou for the information. it would make sense that moroc would have genetics for me, as it is so close to spain and might be the same climate as me...although hotter. i checked out the femaleseeds.nl site but unfortunately they only ship to Europe :(. i am going to be doing some breeding for drought resistance with my rosebud kush (thai + colombian) as it has relatively sparse leaves but wonderfully potent and motivational bud (DJ bred it). Maybe someday we can trade some of my rosebud for some of your moroccan wild strains, :).

krustytheclown - cost of living here is a bitch. I will say though, for the ganja lover and for the nature lover, the bay area and norcal is the best place in the U.S. to live.

Check out Caribe and Destroyer from CannaBiogen, a Spanish company.

ACE is also a Spanish company, they also have some interesting strains. I've heard real good things about their Nepalese Jam (Nepal x Jamaica) and Banghi Haze

ACE,CannaBioGen ...you can´t go wrong!
I hear that Elite Seeds has some good stuff too.but I´ve never tryed it.
The rest just make copies...Critical Mass=Critical +,Black Domina=Sweet Afghani Delicious, made up names such as High Level by Eva Seeds (a knock-off s1 of CBG´s LesHaze) etc etc.... :badday:

Taskenti outdoors :)

I can also suggest maybe Delicattessen seeds where you can find some fine landrace jobs as well and with very good reports. Many of these type of landraced jobs produce drought resistance varieties.

Really cant consider there are spanish lines here but some ppl make some original jobs and cuts are spread around and used or grown. Rest is the same you can see in other places but with different names maybe. Always smile when I hear about spanish varieties, as it is maybe more talk that reality

best luck

it's not a spanish strain but what everyone in Spain is growing outdoors, from north to south is Mr Nice Critical mass, so i bet it has to work nice in the cali climate too.
