They are going to try again today, same time as always.

I did see the one where it landed back on the platform. That was awesome.
This is the 3rd time for a go time and it was scrubbed.4th time?

Get all the boats out of the water, freeze the fuel, keep it cold too.
No Clouds,No airplanes.Let get it up the air, reverse and back down by itself.

"Unfortunately upper-level winds continue to exceed acceptable limits and are expected to get worse as we approach tonight’s launch window, so we are forgoing today’s launch attempt. Winds are forecast to exceed acceptable limits through Thursday."

Well Darn!

The landing on the platform was cool! It was like someone was holding the top of the rocket as it was going down.Sort of weaving back and forth then it landed, shut off at the same time.Thursday or Friday?

One thing for sure....is waiting.

It is the most powerful Hydrogen/Oxygen rocket engine. Crank it Up.

I'll bet it is, but you've gotta see some of the shit I put together for the 4th of July :) You know it! In fact the first thing that I do when I wake up on the 5th, is to count my fingers.......

<------- that's my left hand,
see that? all that's left is my thumb

I have been working more on projectiles going Mach 3 to Mach 3.5.

It is really interesting how much energy is required to propel a 10 gram bullet, to get it going faster than 2800 feet per second (which is a 308).

308, 150 grain 30 cal bullet, 2800+ fps, 3 grams powder

300 WSM, 150 grain 30 cal bullet, 3300 fps, 4.5 grams powder

Remington Ultra Magnum, 150 grain 30 cal bullet, 3600 fps, 7 grams powder

The 'powder' in this case is commercial 'smokeless powder'. The calibers that make it go faster use a slower burning powder to keep pressures at 63,000 psi or below.

So - 1.5 grams of powder to make the 10 gram bullet go 500 fps faster.

Then another 2.5 grams of powder to make the 10 gram bullet go 300 fps faster.

Definitely some diminishing returns setting in.

1/2 m V^2
is the formula for energy in that kind of system.

And those rockets are lifting much larger weights and making them go Mach 30 or something.

I wonder if they ever tried using gunpowder ? :woohoo:
