msteelers, hello and welcome , I am by far not one to be teaching photography for i am an amature myself . I too looked at the cannon rebel xt package for it is a very good camera , but have always wanted a nikon . I was tossed between the d70 and the d50, went with the d70 because there was not alot of info on the d50 and the one thing i did find was there is no whitebalance adjustment on the d50.

I have lights that i use for pics sometimes just depends on my mood i guess
but I do take a bunch of pics to get the right ones . Hope this answers your ???

Besides a great Bud Shooter SS is a Master Grower.
Look how sticky his bud is, Hardly ever see a yellow leaf. ( He trims them off shhhhhh )

D50

I went with the D50 but at this level they are all the same. Congrats..save money for lenses. thats wher they get you. You will need a small blower to get dust of the sensor.
