Sounds or smells that bring you a sense of peace or comfort?

I like to listen to a lot of chakra sounds, binaural beats and other different #hz sounds on youtube to help me drift off to sleep.
Sometimes i listen to other videos like rivers flowing, gentle waves and rain with bamboo chimes....

Bamboo chimes in my back verandah really have a pleasing sound, as long as it's not too windy, it almost seems to have a pattern but not quite, like every pattern is just slightly different and it has some kind of calming effect.

Metal chimes don't do it for me.

Agreed on those annoying little tinkling metal chimes. I also prefer the deeper resonance of the large bamboo 'chimes'.

I am more aroma stimulated/ comforted than by sound. Newborn babies, puppy breath, bread/ choc. chip cookies baking,
the smell of fresh mowed grass, and healthy Earth/ soil, are among some of my favorite aromas. I'd say cannabis... but
that may be too obvious given where I am currently typing this personal opinion :D

birds singing early in the morning; ravens up in the mountains, cardinals and such in the yard. ruffed grouse drumming makes me smile. the wind easing through the trees if you are far enough into the woods to not hear car horns etc...

Rain! I find the sound and smell of rain to be very peaceful.

The smell of slow cooked food ie roasts, stews or spaghetti sauce.

The sound an old book makes when you turn a page(crinkle? Not sure in english)

A cat purring ie tiger :D

and many more

Wholesome thread btw!

Being at the edge of calm water, lights on the other side glimmering on the ripples. Preferably from the moon, not people or houses nearby.

Looking across an open field, or over a forest canopy from above.

In other words the opposite of what city people like.

Next time you're in a WMT, open one of the play-doe jars they sell, and take a whiff. It may bring back memories.
