Soundproofing and water proofing a room

if you live in an apt and you can't cut holes in the wall try to use a room that has a window. build a window box and use it for venting, from the outside no one would be able to tell it's actually an intake/exhaust system. or just stick a big ole a/c in there that can pull air in from outside, lots of the newer window a/c units have that feature.

Often we'll have clients asking us to completely sound-proff particular rooms in their houses- for what reason Im not too sure nor too bothered.

But you want sound-deadening quilt inside your stud-work, then you need to nail sound-deadening foam sheets to the outside skins of your stud work. Then screw your (very exspensive) sound-deading plaster-board to your stud-work(over the top of the foam sheets). This is how I would do it, its far from cheap but will create a silent room. This is up Uk building regulations.

Many of the other suggestions will work very well also  And for a 10th of the price too :D

I know this is an old thread however ...

One thing i've found with soundproofing is that density is everything.

In general its best to either wall everything off with 5/8" of an inch Drywall or atleast cover your windows with this size drywall. Again density - not weight is the best for sound proofing.
