Thx guys, 1'' insulation board sounds like my preferred option.. I'm not sure it's going to happen anytime soon though cus I'm broke... might just have to run 4k and deal with the heat for the time being...

the ac is a 24,500 btu window unit in a box with intake/exhaust ports like the DIY thread on here by hoosierdaddy.
