Oh and MDF is so much easier to work with.....just have dust collection
I agree with an earlier post though...insulation helps a lot too...especially if you get the right stuff....
Sound proofing is one of those applications where we just need find the "industry" thats already researched and made products available....

bringing up this old post because it applies to my new room. I'm gonna go with MDF and insulation but was curious
1) which type of insulation to use. I tend to go with the popular assertion that fiberglass insulation is fiberglass insulation and that the ones labeled for sound deadening is just an excuse to mark up the price, but I'm no expert so I was curious on peoples thoughts.
2) audiomutesoundproofing.com is a very interesting site. I've been looking at the sound absorption sheets:

and the Peacemaker which is flexible sheeting

4 out of 5 walls of the room are just framing, the 5th wall one of the shorter ones, is framing with the exterior of the house on the other side of it. Because of this it really needs to be more soundproof.
My initial plan was insulation inbetween the framing, MDF, then either the Peacemaker sheeting or the sound absorption blanket.
thoughts?
