Somewhat urgent question about TICS (the bug)

clorox

Smokin on that serious...
ive been living with lymes disease for 19 years. i got lymes disease right as the hype was begining, and as a result, was not treated for lymes disease untill 13 years after infection. asside from the arthritis, the side effects of the anti biotics were worse than the lymes disease, hopefully now my kidneys will fail and the virus didnt cross the blood brain barrier and is now chewing away at my sanity.

ticks generally do not start feeding untill 24 - 36 hours after hoppin on ya for a ride, the sooner you remove the tick, the better chance you have of not contracting lyme. always thoroughly check yourself after hiking, and always apply copious amounts of DEET before you do hike.

stay high, stay safe, stay healthy,

Here in the states,Wally, you have a far better chance of getting sucked dry by a cheap, flashy woman than by a tick.

after you check yourself make sure your doggie is up to date with its flee tick regemin. Dogs are just as suspectiable to lyme diease and cannot tell you "hey man I hurt".

lymes disease sucks! only if you get bit by the small ticks that are nearly impossible to see until gorged on blood (deer tick, duh), you may be in a bit of trouble. its not a big deal so long as you get to the doc asap if you start getting headaches, feeling fatigued, stomach problems and etc. the worst persisting symptom i had form the disease were headaches. I had it for about a week before we went to the doc and they just loaded me up with antibiotics and within a week from that i was doing much better. generally you will also contract more than one disease if bitten by the right tick, like i had lymes disease an this other thing which made me extremely fatigued. I had it about 7 yrs ago I think...

You can get bit by a tick without it beginning to burrow. Lyme's desease is more prevelent in some areas than others. If your worried, call the Public Health Department and they can tell you if your area is high.

Can you see a bite mark?

doodsky, I pull about 5-600 ticks off me a year, (when I was growin outdoors)...

Deer Ticks are the only ones that will get you sick.. so dont be scared.. n they need to be attatched fer about 2 days before you can get infected.. and not all deer ticks carry lyme..

bro check yer stated DNR website, they will have all the info you need..

99.99999% of the time, all they are is annoying..lol..

dont worrie..

I have probably had a few dozen ticks on me in my life time, and I have never once been bitten. Always feel them crawling on me. When you grow up arachnophobic as I'll get out, you tend to notice 8 little legs crawling on ya reaaaal quick.

I heard you can fend off most ticks with a tall chair.

Well JJScorpio - if a tic can bite me real quick... (not burrow)...then I suppose the question is... can I get Lyme's Disease from a bite... because I know it hadn't burrowed yet.

I haven't seen any bite marks..but I haven't check too many times. I'll keep waiting I think I heard sometimes the bite marks won't appear for 3 days to 3 weeks? Or is that the rash? Either way THANKS A TON for all the info guys... I'm not going to worry but at least I'll know to take action as soon as possible if I get any signs!!!!!!

One interesting thing to look into is the Chemical/Biological Weapons Base that was formed after WWII outside of Long Island New York. Very closely located with the area that Lyme disease was first discovered. . . . interesting story. . .

but i dont believe in Lyme disease ;-P

I hate fucking ticks

I guess the deer tick around here is what you've gotta look out for, the more common wood tick is not a lyme carrier.

That fact(?) doesn't ease my mind though, the paranoia of being in a high tick load environment makes me really uneasy, always 'feeling' shit, sometimes actually finding the frickers.

Unfortunately you really do have to check when they're everywhere, consider it luck if you notice them, they're not obvious.

Sorry to hear a tick touched you lol

oh yea a shout out to Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, another tick-borne illness
haha
