grow or go might be stating it a bit harshly...it's perfectly understandable that not everyone feels safe posting pics of their grow....however you can still talk about growing,ask questions about growing...at least express a faint interest in growing...


it's a pot growing site,we don't need every single stupid youtube video linked here,or people who joined to only dwell in the speakers corner or spout conspiracy theories...

yup. farmer is a good friend that has given me lifelong permission to hunt on over 500 acres of family land. i'm not doing anything there that might cause him or family any problems.

thanks for clearing this up. i mostly lurk on grow threads. i DO ask questions, and have added suggestions if i feel i can contribute, however slightly. greenhouses, autos, and DWC are my main interests...

Posting pics is not really risky at all. Just make sure you're not including personal info in the exif data. The worst risk is that you use a licensed image editor that tags the image with your ownership data. Its easy to disable if you have such a thing(which you likely wouldn't). Keep hands and reflections out of images too. Honestly I don't think the feds care that much and the local cops aren't exactly high tech most of the time.

It does seem like IC Mag forums are relatively dead compared to the old days. That worries me because sites like this are dwindling and are a treasure that must be preserved. The legal-state cultures of Instagram, Facebook, and generally organizing and posting on social media is not only not an option for many of us, but its also just not the same anyway. I had hoped that the software upgrade would come with a modern search function, but unfortunately that didn't happen. If there's a way we can revive this site, I would be eager to try it.

the site software will be upgraded at some point,the server was recently moved.


there's a thread at the top of the main page about it,and any issues can be dealt with by the webmaster...


personally i have heard from several former/inactive members that it's the conspiracy buffs who have turned them off of the site...it would be nice if the people who aren't here to talk primarily about growing would just go away on their own...in my opinion...

honestly just start enforcing the no religion and no political bullshit TOU again. it's nice to have discussions with normal people on these issues but overall i can live without having to see threads daily by facebook addicted boomers worried about the Dracos assassinating Trump or that Hillary is leading an invasion on America.

I even like a little political talk, but honestly its sad when grow threads barely get attention while literally nonsensical threads in the non-growing sections get thousands of pages long somehow. This site is an encyclopedia of growing info and has a long proud history of helping carry the torch that was left behind when Overgrow died. To me, this site is basically the spiritual continuation of that amazing site. Whatever it takes to preserve this place, I think we need to consider it.

it's a double edged sword...while on some level i applaud gypsy for allowing the speakers corner to exist here,obviously it's a sort of pandora's box as well...


but what to do? it's not really fair to suddenly adopt a new policy with nebulous parameters simply because we think someone is a crackpot for believing in something they saw on youtube...i mean we're supposed to be a bunch of pot smokers and i'm sure we all have believed some crazy shit at some point...it's certainly not up to the mods what a person chooses to believe in or what side of a political fence they should be on,or fact check every youtube video that gets linked...


so really i think each user needs to examine their reasons for being a member here...and if it's not to add to or learn from the body of knowledge about our favorite plant than i would politely say please consider leaving the site...

I guess as I see it; you can talk about most of that stuff elsewhere, but the growing content, and the history of content, and the community around it all add up to something that makes this place special. It would just be nice if there was a way to isolate the wild stuff further so growers don't flee elsewhere.
