Someone has been feeding my plants..

Maybe someone else is growing in the same area and they have mistaken your plants for theirs, or maybe you are mistaking your plants for his..

Either way, maybe you should leave like 25% of your harvest for him, just for the effort of feeding your plants.. :) Or maybe you could cut a deal w/him to split the harvest after it is properly ripened..

sounds like perlite, the way you say it crumbles to powder. Osmocote doesn't crumble. You can't break that shit in your hands/fingers (maybe w/fingernails, but it will chip and crack the nail). it is also kinda yellowish/tan like color. Most of the ag ferts ie 8-16-16, 9-24-24, 10-10-10 are all very hard unless they get wet, then they turn a little gooey. they are also multi colored. straight urea is often small white balls, but again they are hard- unless wet, then will get greasy/gooey. dunno??
peace,

I don't mean to insult your intelligence here as I know you have said its not perlite but I think there is a chance that's what it is.

I could still be wrong but how familiar are you with perlite?

As your plants are watered or rained on the perlite that was nicely mixed in your soil tends to float on top of the water. As the water dries up a lot of the perlite ends up laying on the surface of the soil, becoming much more noticeable than before. White pieces spread out all over the surface.

It also gets very light when its dry and wind or even fans indoors can kick it up where some can stick to the buds. I have seen this with my own eyes.

It also crumbles to a white powder when crushed in my fingers.

Any chance of getting up a picture?

That would take some of the guess work out of this, but I still think its perlite.

Good luck with your harvest.

perlite, Osmocote, it ain't his.

It doesn't make sense to feed your plants unless someone is planning on taking them before you do, or he is mistaking them for his plants. It is still rather weird for someone to feed plants and then toe the line trying to let them mature but still grab them before the actual grower. With that much trouble, dude should just grow his own, even if he is morally bankrupt.

I like the "Smile! You're on camera!" cards at the foot of the plants idea.

I appreciate all the feedback and advice.. but Im still not certain. I just picked up a new camera today (the old one took a shit), So I will take some pics tomorrow.

CAnnaco-op - I dont have a partner, Never have. I grow all on my own. Only one knows I grow is my old man, as the majority of the product goes to him for meds. I dont have a trail cam, but I was thinking about putting a little note in the plants saying "if u value your life, dont take things that dont belong to you", maybe a bit harsh... Maybe i can make up a fake DEA Buisness card and leave it in the corn row. That might scare em off.

Mr Fantastik - your absolutely right..

Spongegirlz - I appreciate it! I always try!

SZsnake - This field is huge, and I have only wandered in about 100 yards.. Never thought about someone else growin in the same field... My plants are in the middle of the field about 10-15 rows in. I only planted a small garden, bc when I was planting these i had a bad feeling. I stuck my head up over the corn and seen a truck sitting down on the road a couple hundred feet away. Not sure if they had seen me or not, but I actually didnt plan on coming back for these few plants. But after seeing how big they had gotten, I gotta bring em in now!

Arglye Scud - I really dont think its perlite, I know perlite. This stuff is an over white almost tan color. Its thoroughly wet, and when u press ur finger on it, the outer layer is greasy and gooey exactly as u had described, with bright white powder on the inside... Ive never used osmocote or anything like it, but from researching it, that seems to be what it is. Not certain tho.

Stash Bastard - Im very familiar with perlite. I know that it doesnt get soft when its wet, and I know it will tend to raise to the surface of soil. Im positive its not perlite. Perlite will crush to a while powder, and it doesnt deteriorate. This stuff is greasy and mushy as Scud described. I will take a pic with the new camera tomorrow if I get a chance to get in there. I have a plot to bring down tomorrow, so I can prob stop by the corn field for pics.

Propa Gator - its not any kind of aerial top feed or feed for the corn. I checked many corn rows and the only place i Could find this stuff was scattered in a parameter at the base of my plants.

I really appreciate everything. Again, I will take pics this weekend (hopefully tomorrow), and maybe we can get a better idea of whats going on.
Thanks again!

Im nearly positive that someone has found these plants. I found freshly cut tops on a couple of them. I think the best idea is to dig these up and bring them to my backyard.. I must go in at night. Im going to replant them in 5 gallon buckets of promix. Do u think this is a good idea? How much soil should I take? The plants are about 4' - 4.5' tall, atleast 2 ozs per plant, and Im pretty sure there are 7-8 plants. I can go in and dig at night, and call my dad when Im ready for him to haul me out ;) I will do it this way so I dont have my vehicle sitting on the main road looking suspicious.. Yall think this is a good idea? How would u do it?

if it is another grower in the same field, maybe he saw your plants weren't doing too good so he put some ferts down to help you out... gesture of goodwill to another grower. Took a couple of tops for his troubles... I dunno. sounds far-fetched. i take it back. totally bizarre situation.

"Dude, those were your plants?!?!? I'm sorry bro, it was just perlite. Hey, BTW the tops I took were pretty dank, good job. You mind if I nab a plant or two?" lol

Seriously I think that would be funny as shit if he was on this thread.

You said you planted these plants and did not come back for them? A person found them and checked for foot prints for months. He seen no signs of anyone being there. He took over your grow and it now his for you left and did not care about it to even check on them.

This is his grow now so you should stay away. LOL Just kidding.

This whole thread got me saying hmmm? Something does not add up?

How come you do not know how many plants you have? 7 or 8?

It might be poisen from the farmer.

In a corn rows it would not be hard to look for any kind of foot prints right?

If your going to dig them use burlap bags until you get them home.

I would not leave anything at the plot. But if you must leave somthing. Just lay a few 30.6 shells at the base of your plants. But if you did this and it was the land owner who found them you just opened a whole new can of worms.

So what are you going to do?

Yo!

If you are going to dig them up at night, bring someone with you just incase they happen to be thinking the same thing. You dont want to end up slaughtered by some Michael Myers looking motherfucker for taking your own plants...

Im not sure on the exact number of plants in there. THey were grown from seed, and I had pulled atleast 10 males in August. I planted 200+ clones and close to 100 seed plants outdoors this season, Im not exactly sure how many Nepalese were in there. I did not see any footprints. From what I heard, If it is osmocote, it must have been there for a while for the balls to be soft, and smushy.. Just what i heard, I actually have no experience with Osmocote. Im going to try to get in there this weekend and dig them all up. I will replant them in my backyard..

I appreciate the feedback and advice, from my fellow growers. Respect

My 2 cents goes with the Osmocote. I used it in the 80's before I knew any better. I worked for a nursery at the time and they used it for everything. I'd sprinkle it on the ground around the plant out to the drip line. After a couple months of getting wet and then drying repeatedly, they would break easily and the fine white powder would come out just like you described. Now I think you're in a "Spy vs Spy" situation and need to harvest before your opponent does. Did you leave tracks in the dirt? Any signs of your visit? I wish you the best, but you have an ordeal on your hands and it will be difficult to prevail.

I say take one or two home with you and leave the rest in place to finish. That way you don't have a total loss on this plot. This way if it is paranoia you won't take them all too early but you won't lose them all either.
