Some sort of bugs swimming in my autopot tray!

I have some sort of bug infestation. I initially thought the little yellow specs on the leaves (picture 1 & 2) were the beginning of a calcium deficiency so had been treating this by adding calmag.
She definitely seemed happier for the addition. I couldn’t see any bugs on the top or underside of the leaves.

Today I opened the lid on the autopot tray that this plant has been in for a while (see picture 3) & spotted these really small little white things moving around in the liquid solution.
I’m now thinking maybe this may be Thrips. I’ve not had any bugs before so that is a bit of a knee jerk reaction/guess.

I’m going to do a lot of reading up on the subject but in the mean time can anyone tell me what these little buggers are & what is the safest way to dispatch them bearing in mind they are living on a budding plant (foliar spraying best avoided)?

cheers
