solar panels 4 cheap

solar panels 4 cheap

Hey,
I'm new here, love the forum. On questions of solar panels. I went to a battery house here in my city, and they were second hand for cheap. You can also get them for an RV or cabin and run a few of those. Its like 100$ CAD funds per panel, then need a converter and batteries, all together around 300-500$ Canadian depending on how much power you want and need! Thats not much considering it helps for security and the planet! That should be enough to run your small grow room! Its an easy way to get away from the Hydro-companies and the blue-meenies. just look around and salvage what you can and save a couple of bucks. Anybody caught around here, and there are lots, its because of the Hydro companies seeing fantastic amounts of power running in some stupid little bungalow! Imagine if you never paid another power bill, or at least for your grow-op? The only thing you now have to consider is infrared detection since in canada its been changed that cops can use it without prior notice from a judge. So live like a Hobbit and go underground and have animals up on top like a small barn which throws off the infrared. I think lead can stop that lighting so maybe there's something to ponder in future?!
Thanx,
SailorSam!

BioDiesel

BioDiesel

Hey me again,
just a note on the whole off-grid subject. Our dependance on the fossil is also a problem with vehicles and an alternative to Hydro cars is the use of Bio-diesel that can be made for cheap and run on any diesel engine. exhaust smells like fries but no harmful emissions. You'll just get the munchies(if you don't have them in the first place!).

Hey everyone. I am not going to let this thread die. I just is going to take some time to put my system together. Here is the stator I built for my wind power alternater.

I hope everyone will try to find a way to help the enviroment. Every little bit will help.

Great stuff. Interesting to me even from the strictly environmental standpoint. Now because of this thread, I had to add another half-dozen bookmarks to my web browser...

You guys ever heard of papercrete? It's concrete/sand re-enforced with paper. It has 300 psi compression strength. It's got tinsel strength too. Many ways to use it...pour in slip-form, make blocks or drain off to a clay like consistency and use it like Cob. It also has a 2-3 R value per inch and absorbs sounds. You don't have to build a traditional looking building (but you can) walls can curve and domes can be built. Its fireproof, bug proof and rodent proof as well.

Oh yeah...the bulk of your building material, PAPER, is FREE! There are people building at around $1/sf or less...labor not included. Lots of scrounging is needed to get down this low.

www.papercrete.com is a good start on papercrete and this one is on alt building www.outtathebox.org

It's what I'm going to build my next home (not just a house). I just got my land and now I've got to start on the house design. I'll be solar but still hooked into the mains. My town is giving a great rebate (like 75% rebate on systems) so any extra power is fed back into the mains...your meter turns backwards when this happens and if you take less than your system put back in you get a check from the power company. Plus I won't have to deal with the whole battery side of things...but I can always add that later if I want.

I'm also planing on doing a massive rain catch/recycle system with tanks (of papercrete!) and a small pond. This should take me off city water. And I hope to be able to put in a compositing toilet if code will allow it.

Here's the plan. I hope I can get done with this list within the next two years. Starting...NOW.

Find land---check
Buy land---check
Plan home
Build home (out of pocket funded)
Move
Sell old house and pay off land with profit.
Semiretirement (already self employed)
People watch (stoned of course) making up their life stories in my head all the while.

A DIY lifestyle...that's for me.
