Soil or Soiless

Is a mix of Ocean Forest(peat), coco coir, perlite and dolomite lime considered soil or soiless?

What is the proper ph for this mix for optimal plant health/vigor?

Why do you have peat in parenthesis after ocean forest,OF is not considered soiless but I imagine peat moss and coco is.I really cant say for sure,I always had problems when my soil ph dropped below 6,but I've heard its OK if the medium is soilless to be around 5.6.Personally,I wouldnt let it drop below 6 using OF but get some other opinions because I'm not too sure I really understand what soilless really is or the difference between the two lol.I always considered promix to be soil, then I hear its soiloless. One thing I do know from experience, whenever my ph dropped below 6 with the promix I'd get excessive yellowing of fan leaves due to nute lockout I imagine

I don't know all the ingredients of OF...but why would you mix coco with it? I prefer coco with perlite and or hydroton only. But keeping your ph at 5.8 is optimal for soiless.

I use FF products - I cut Ocean forest between 50-50 and 60-40 with pearlite. Lightens and aireates the soil a lot and I seem to get more roots.

Start lightly with the nutes, 1/4 or 1/2 strength Grow Big

Tiger Bloom drops PH to dangerous levels at recamended dose - adjust accordingly For my local, 1/2 stength TB drops PH from 7.0 to about 6.0. You will need to watch what you do, less can be better; believe me.

Capt James, use dolomite lime in your mix and use the tiger bloom with out any ph up,you'll notice the runoff will be close to neutral.Just use dolomite and dont fret it another words

Well because OF is made of peat moss.

I want know if my mix is soil or soilless because the optimal PH for soil and soilless is different. Soil's recommended PH is 6 - 6.8 , soilless 5.6 - 6. So what is my mix, soil or soilless?

AFAIK, a pH of 5.6-6 for soiless means hydro or a medium like rockwool, hydroton clay balls, etc but promix, peat, and probably OF would also be considered soiless but would use the 6-6.8 pH range but towards the lower end. True soil (dirt) would be better in the mid range.

IOW there are two kinds of soiless mediums with two different optimum pH's.

This is all wayyy to complicated the all the PH differences,I've used two mediums promix and ocean forest and soil or soiless,if I let my soil ph drop below 6 I'd have problems, thats all I need to know about ph.If you consider ocean forest to be soiless, try letting the soil ph drop below 6 and you may have a change of heart about all these different PH's for soil and soiless. As far as I'm concerned ph wise,if its not growing in water I'll keep my ph above 6
