I'm switching to soiless nxt grow, jst experimenting wif it atm (1/3 perlit, 1/3 vermiculite, 1/3 peat moss) ... I no this is kinda off subject bt does anyone find that the perlite floats to the top of the mix wen u water?

How come no one talks about sunshine #4??? It is the ultimate soilless in my opinion... What do you guys think about it? And to whoever is using it, what do you add to it besides the perlite? Does anyone use the green sand stuff? One more thing does anyone use the stuff that you spray on the inside of your pots and it repels the roots so it forms a better stronger root ball (I dont know the name of it, if no one posts back i'll look it up and repost)?

Dr. greenfinger, I too have noticed my perlite floats to the top when I water. This is only the top layer so it shouldn't be a problem. If it all were to seperate, that would be a different story.

I love using Promix. I use it on it's own, or sometimes add a little dolomite lime. Either way I have always had excellent results. I have tried dirt before with little success, but that was years ago when I first started so really it was not a fair try.

i like knowing at all times how much nutes my plants are receiving, therefor i like using SOILESS! i find it much easier to control nute burn and easy to dial-in feedings for my babies. with soil mixes its easier to burn your plants or put in too much, too little, such a headache! peat moss, perlite, and d.lime are all you need!

Seriously - It isn't like its some sort of rocket science either way. My theory is that people burn there plants because they want to do some [to make them grow faster]. If you are using a good rich soil mix you should not have do much in the way of fertilizing throughout the veg period, assuming you are transplanting at regular intervals.

Yea bt i got some "rich soil" it was actually the highest rated soil in the country i live in so according to the pro gardeners it was the best u could possibly get ... wat i got from it was a few weeds (not the good kind) and a spider web type of fungus in the soil ... I'll stick wif soiless thanx ... funner to experiment wif different forms of nutrients too!
Cheers! :)

Yeah, peatmoss and perlite? What kind of mix is that? You need compost and worm shit. Compost+worm shit= good soil, much better than any weakass peatmoss and perlite mix. Even without the perlite, but add some perlite and it's a miracle.

I take that back. fu¢k perlite all the way, hahaha

I will comment on this as someone whos used both. Ive recently found the great advantages of soiless growing with 'fafard' peat products from canada. They offer a growing mix #2 wich is a perlite & canadian spahgnum blend which i loved and used for a long long time. Originally i used FoxFarm Ocean Forest religiously, and one day the grow shop carried these square compressed blocks of farfard soiless growing mix and i tried it. With the exception of nutrients its almost the same exact thing: an excellent anchoring medium for cannabis roots, with a healthy nutrient regimen you can feeed more and the product is lighter which is an important component for disposal. I saw Great results in both mediums and to be honest i can say its a dead draw with both having excellent end results(with soiless mixtures they dry up faster so you are able to feed more).

Actually I've been using all three bottles, 15-10-5 formula for veg so far. Will switch to 8ml micro 16ml bloom for the flowering stage. Although after looking again, it seems the 8 micro 16 bloom works just fine for veg with the 3 part system as well. I was using all 3 bottles just cause I have them, and don't like wasting money. I'll prolly just not use the grow bottle anymore, as it's not needed. Two bottles is easier than three! I grow in pro-mix bx.
