SOG Strains 2017

So I've been out of the game a while and I'm currently looking forward to starting up a SOG style grow.

Never really been into SOG's, but I figured that they're less time consuming than the way i used to do things.

I've done quite a few hours of research and came up with tons of outdated threads. A few strains that are still on the market, but most of the gems were hard to find.

I'm looking for yield, quality and a short flowering period (aren't we all).

After digging through all of the old threads I came up with three potential options and I'm pretty sure they're all Serious Seeds products.

1. Double Dutch
2. Chronic
3. AK-47

I've found quite a few that I couldn't seem to find such as

1. LUI 13
2. Sweet tooth (#4?)

I was wondering if there have been any new picks lately. If so, please provide pictures if they're available, as well as the Breeder name, and where I can potentially find them.

Not only looking to start up this thread for my own convenience, but I imagine it can help many others due to most other threads being outdate or the strains are no longer available.

Thanks in advance.

By old threads you must mean only threads from 2007 or so, those are some old strains.

SOG grows have kind of died out as people transitioned from illegal growing to quasi legal med and recreational growing with set plant numbers.

You don't see too many people really practicing grow methods like they used to. There was a lot of innovation taking place in the early 2000s, interesting times for sure. A lot has changed since then.

Yeah, it was the 2007ish period. I think the most recent was 2010. I think you're right for the most part. I just find it hard to believe that nobody runs SOG's anymore. Even though nearly half the US is med legal, theres still half that isn't. But, thank you for the input. All input is appreciated.

I used to run SOG, but since moving to a legal state with set plant limits, it's no longer the best (safest) way to grow. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has changed their growing methods to stay within the law(s), which is why it seems to be more of an oldschool method almost.

w4tch sharksbreath is probably the best strain to look at and the top of your list

Thanks! I'll look into it!

Understand that 100%! I believe that most people on here are participating in legal grows, but there has to be a few outlaws that'll run across this.

Both of you, thank you for the input!:huggg:

I realize in replied to this thread and didn't get any suggestions.

If you don't mind just generic, big yielding bud that is good in an all around sense I would suggest either serious chronic, or paradise wappa.

Wappa is actually a superior cash cropper, not necessarily a connoisseur strain but checks the boxes for potency and yield.

When I did grow SoG style, G13 Labs Pineapple Express worked wonderfully. (It was a freebie seed, I know the company is shady at best).

Grew a nice long main cola with few side branches when pruned right and would be done in 9 weeks from 12/12. Big yields and super potent smoke.

It was fairly floppy, so having a stake in your medium to tie the main branch to would really help save yourself headache towards the end of your flowering cycle.

I don't SoG anymore but many strains can work. I grew out 5 packs of ACE bangi haze and there was one female with incredibly tight nodes completely packed with auxiliary shoots. Kept with a single top this plant would lend itself well to sog. I tried all the strains you mentioned. Whiteberry and double dutch were the strains I used a long time ago.

You can sog any plant, you just trim/prune accordingly.

True sog as in 4 plants per square foot, with main cola dominate plants works best for the least amount of work and time, no trimming, no veg time no netting, but you are gonna want to get very good at cutting clones

I prefer 1 plant per square foot to keep numbers down, this also allows me to run any strain I want, I just have to prune them accordingly, veg about 10-12 days and generally use some netting for support
Topping works very well with this method but adds 3-4 days veg time.

All the strains you mentioned are good but old school Ak-47 and sweet tooth are by far the best, and they are both heavy yeilding plants.

I hope one day soon, after Rec starts up that those plant limits will be thrown out the window. They're so stupid. You know they rolled the dice and.....Six!! Haha could of been twelve but Lady Luck's a muthafukka!lol I use to like running SOG grows. Packing the shit out a tables and flipping'em from day one! Nuthin but tops! Haha harder to perfectly dry but easy to trim!

I was thinking of doing a sog.But new to this what size of pots should i use ?
System is a 3 x 3 ebb & flow table using hydroton.
400watt metal halide for veg and 600watt hps for flower

You can do it now...

Im saying on a federal level even 1 plant is a charge. What is really stopping someone from growing 10 plants instead of 6

seriously
