I have shallow beds because I'm limited to 36" max height. This is why I run 1000k for the penetration. I'm in the extra-high crawl space under the house. I can just stand between the joists (I'm 5"11")
looks good ic......a couple q's for ya though........why not more plants, i know you can easily fit at least 30-40 plants in a 4x4 coco/soil bed......you tryin to keep plant #'s down or just not enough clones this go at it or something else?
Also, i've seen cats have some wicked results using 5inch soil beds, like 2.5-3elbos a light....granted the strain in that grow was more on the commerish side but still......prooves the point that the roots will grow out as well as down and it saves ya time when haulin it out, medium cause your usin less, and won't break yer back.......growin can be tough on the back!

These plants look healthy but what's
up with the downturned leaf tips? Too much water?
One small shot of my room. It's around 16'x22' That's about as wide an angle shot as I can get. The fourth bed is behind the plastic wall I have for an old mom room.

Economics really since this garden was bought. I like 25 because I can get 4-5 really nice colas from each plant. If squeeze more in I need to trim heavily and go single cola. I enjoy all the popcorn and lil' buds. I do BHO and make cannabrex pills with that.somoz said:

im completelly with ya on the popcorn nugs - they are great for making hash, oil etc - and it does bring up the total yeilds - i allways save the thickest and biggest top kolas and nugs for later, let them cure a bit etc - while im smoking the small nugs as hash and making BHO.

right on bro, i hear ya......i do the same thing with my TW treez.....i usually leave a bit untrimmed for flarf so i can get some bubble out of it........just wanted to see if you had the right reasons! haha
and yeah, i would check the soil on that bed because it is probably overwaterin......doesn't look like the lights nearly close enough to cause any heat stress so i would most likely say you gave em too much.........they should bounce back today depending on how overfed they were.........nice pics

So I have been flowering for 8 days now. Well it turns out I was sloppy setting my timer so I actually had 12:10 on and 11:50 off for the first 5 days and, I over-watered for the first 2 weeks. I belive this is why most of my plants decided to stretch. Strange that my 3 sativas (Swazi Safari) have not.
I hope they will fill out some even though we all know, no internodes=no buds
Here's the pics.

holy crap they have stretched a lot. maybe you should bend the middle plants down so the light reaches the edges and you don't get burned buds. it's crazy how much plants can stretch in coco, just like in a hydroponic grow.
can you move the lights further up?

some crazy stretch you have there only a couple of options i can think of, drop the trays if there sitting on a stand then super crop plants/ bend top 30 to 40cm of plant over to the side away from globe.
If was my grow id cut atleast 30cm off the tops of the stretchy plants maby even 40cm to wall height, side branches then would fill that area well. Would extend your flowering by about a week but yield would be decent.
Your about half way through the stretch period on 8Th day plant could still stretch for atleast 15days grow maby 30cm taller then will continue to grow 20cm+ long buds.
Im growing some sensi skunk clones from seed also very stretchy but nothing in your pics.

Yes they are 1000k hortilux bulbs, air cooled hoods with 8" venting. The lights are as high as they can go. I can normally let the tops touch the glass as long as they're not directly below the bulb. I will be bending the tops down. I have about 3 crispy leafs on one top (pic one w/the bent top in the middle)but other than that they're fine. I just put the glass in the hoods so the temps around the bulb are cooler. We'll see what happens.

Here we are at day 17 of flower. I think the strech is over now but I have quite a jungle to deal with. I have been bending the tall plants many times. It seems they want to stand straight up the next day. Some have been bent 4 times now.
The bud formation is looking real good, with very few burnt leaves. I'm using floranova bloom now with a p.h. range of 5.5-6.5 and I cut down my watering to every oyher day. The soil bed looks good but not much strech at at all.
I'm looking towards a lighter than usual yield, we'll see.....................
First pic is the dirt bed.

heya, you need to tie them down if you want them to stay bent... if you are still concerned about stretch then use twine to tie them down to the bottom rails

wow they have stretched a hell of alot, lol. shit man they look like they are toching the lamps? i think you might need to tie the middle colas down, so they are pointing sideways? just the colas right under the lamps. otherwise they are gonna block the light and get burned anyway.

Yeah some are touching the glass and alot have been trained sideways. I have one fried top and a couple of bleached ones. With the air cooling they can get 8-10" from the bulb and almost turn white. Some colas are filling in pretty good. Here's some close-up pics-
cool man, at least they are done stretching by now, so you will be able to ripen them out without tieing them down eh? keep up the good work, not all that much longer.

Thanks for all the replies. I figured out that I could actually move my lights about 4-5" higher. What a relief, they were really getting hammered and I was getting anxious. Things are much better now. I've got about 5 more weeks to go for most. More pics.........
