I do seem to remember reading, however, that the blood has a ph of 7.4 which is held in check by the kidneys.. So if foods do change this it wouldn't last long as the kidneys would ph up or down accordingly. Also , sugar is not acid in itself

It has a ph of 7

Fine, just don't go spreading bullshit un-substantiated myths as truth.

nor you. see how that works? pointless conversation. your "debunking" was not debunking at all...nor truth.

for every bunk...there is a debunk. the way of the world.

in the end...concerning health...common sense goes a long way. proof in the pudding...so to speak. I don't get sick...don't suffer constant acidic conditions...and I do as I say. eat right and stay active...pretty fucking simple.

there's a lot riding on your opinion (your debunker's opinion)...not for me however. Bullshit?

Refined sugar kills and makes sick..a lot of people. It's in about everything and is highly addictive. I'm a sugar addict. Have been my entire life. Many a war and many enslaved due to sugar. To this day.

Sugar is a cause of heartburn...at a minimum.

Trouble is they dump sugar in just about everything to preserve it.. Then add salt to cover the sweetness

That's true. I've been into label reading for the last bunch of years...have a book that outlines/defines exactly what is what...and have found that sugars/salts are sometimes blatant and sometimes hidden in definitions. It's a tricky thing.

Still...I'm an addict. Think I was born a sugar addict.

I'm into running ultra marathons now days...so I consume mass amounts of both sugar and salt when training and racing. It's pretty much impossible to avoid...as becoming depleted of either makes a body bonk out. My experiences with both sugar and salt are constantly evolving....meaning...I experiment with different ways of finding the balance needed. Thus far....I've found..what works one day..might not work in 2 wks. I have yet to find consistency.

Guess I've wrestled with my sugar/salt uptake for a long time now. At home I use organic maple syrup...balanced out with canned coconut milk in my mugs of hot tea. The maple syrup and tea are both acidic (green tea less than black) but the coconut milk is base and has the fats I need.

I tried going cold turkey off additive sugar (the maple syrup) but it really fucked up my mood and I had a real bad experience (bonked) during a long trail run...so after that experiment...I resigned myself to accepting my extra needs for sugar. It literally picks me up within a few minutes when I slam down a gel or Medjool dates when I'm running. Almost instant. It's amazingly fast...and lasts less than 20 minutes..but then I just slam more. Crazy. I get real sick of gels/sugar when I'm racing (call it race food..2-3 gels an hr)...but it has become a necessary evil. It can mess with my stomach...leaving it burning and raw...but fuels me forward...which is the name of the game in my sport.

* Good read : The Sugar Blues from 1975....people have been clued in for a long time.

** I'm my own testing lab. I'm not pushing my methods or trying to sway people from their beliefs. I do know that an acidic body environment invites disease and illness....all of them. Common sense tells me to avoid staying acidic for any length of time. I have a vested interest in keeping my body base and flushing.

*** pushing my body to extremes has revealed a lot to me. listening to my body is imperative to what I do. paramount. live and learn...and really listen to what the body is saying.

Ok...fuck...I'm off my soap box

fermentation of sugars cause acidity...or acidity of body causes adenosine to be created through fermentation. either way not good.

Jerricho Mile, I like your input. I too have been involved in long distance training. And recently left a relationship with a sugar addict. pretty wild. I didn't even know that was a real thing. We went on a High fat Low Carb diet for several months and it revealed several strange physiological responses to sugar. Since we were essentially sugar free at times; when we would "fall of the wagon" we would get really piss poor attitudes almost as soon as we ate sugar? sugar makes you mean! weird. And it makes u sweat almost immediately. Pretty wild.
Looping back however. There is a new/old trend taking hold. Which is high fats burn more efficiently than sugars. So you might experiment with coconut oil. Its like the steroid for the body. My last triathlon, when I'd come into the staging area I'd drink a couple gulps of that and take off like a rocket. Pretty neat.
Alas, this has nothing to do with lemons, but I totally agree there is no money to be made by doctors if humans are healthy. Ill push the lemon propaganda for sure! Amen

Agree totally on the coconut oil. We use it here. Coconut water, oil, and the canned milk...ok..I'll admit to the coconut palm sugar as well. I just stocked up today...4 more cans of milk and another bag of the palm sugar (for my tea...I switch back and forth between maple syrup and palm sugar...it's a vice)

Sugar addiction is no joke. I know it sounds funny..but it's the real deal...and health wise refined sugar is almost a poison. We are so ingrained with sugar..it's criminal. I know that when I quit (several times I've quit now) I went into heavy withdrawal symptoms. The last time I kicked for a month before I caved in. After the last time...I've resolved to just live with my addiction the best I can.

I can't grow lemons at my altitude....but my friends 1000'/2000' lower give me all the lemons I can handle. It's crazy when I see people with lemon trees...and the fruit is going to waste because they just don't need that many. I'm like...yeah...right here...and your avocados as well. Lemons and avocados...are near perfect foods imo.

* my thread "a world on a string" in the test grows/new varieties forum...documents all the shit I'm doing. I'm Pablos. You are welcome to stop in, dude. Growing and training...breeding and racing...hand in hand.

Sorry for the hijack, Yort. Great thread concept.

I shall give that a try.
I have suffered from heartburn since I was too young to remember. Doctors put a camera down my gut a few years back and couldn't find a cause...."here,take these tablets forever..."
Me: "they stopped working "
Them: "take more!"

Same here. They shoved a TV camera down my throat back in the mid 90s. Cool drug they use in the IV though. I said, "So when you gonna start?". He said, "We're finished."

Quack saw nothing. 'Scuse me, that's Marine Colonel quack, thank you. So been taking Omeprazole/Prilosec everyday since. That is not good, I know, but I have tried not taking it. OUCH! Then I can't eat ANYTHING. I suppose I could down Tums or something after eating anything all the time, but figure eating all that shit has to be just as bad as taking one Omeperazole every morning.

I think they said I burned away the sphincter muscle that people have at the top of their stomachs that keeps stomach contents from bubbling up into your esophogus.
