As far as DRYS goes, I'm looking to sell at a target price of $4.31. I'm expecting a little bit of a pull back once it hits around $4.31 but it could hit $4.55 before it pulls back a little. I bought a little over 6,000 shares at $4.13 and then I margined a little over another 6,000 shares when it dropped to $3.48 so basically I bought it all for $3.80 because of the price average. Hopefully it hits this price before the earnings report comes out on the 28th cause I don't really want to be in for that cause anything could happen after that depending on earnings. I'll be hoping in and out of this stock all year long.

As far as CY goes I'm looking to sell at a target price of 11.70. I'm taking some risk cause earning are supposed to be released tomorrow but if the report is bad then I'll have to sell and think about my next move. I bought 2,300 shares at a price of $10.80. Hopefully earnings goes well tomorrow!

As far as SD goes I'm looking to sell at a target price of $7.07. I'm not sure if it'll get there by earnings on 8/4 but I'm willing to hold on if I have to. I'll have to see how earnings go if it doesn't reach my target price and take it from there. I bought 3800 shares at 6.59 and I'm down so far.

I don't like where the market is going so I sold DRYS for $4.20. I'll probably wait until earnings to buy it back. I still made 10% on it but because I used the margin, I ended up making 20% because I had twice the amount of shares.

I'll do some research and update the thread this weekend. Lots of things going on right now but the market has been doing really well the past couple of days because of good earning. This is what I expected to happen but after all earnings come out, it is possible that there good be some profit taking but I need to do some more research but good luck to everyone!

Normal investors lose 80% of the time trying to operate short-term in the market, right? By normal I mean you and me, not huge equity firms. Just giving a heads up to those who think this is like printing money.

Snype,

You think the Dodd-Frank bill will shake things up over the next 4 years? You say the market is doing well, but there is a shit load of uncertainty because a whole bunch of jobs are about to be lost at the big banks/ those big banks can't make the same profits. The Volcker rule is going to push even more jobs out of the US and into some less regulated market.

You have a risk criteria or you just look for value?

I know I am not Snype but I thought I might put my 2 cents in on this. The Volker rule is not something that is really going to hurt bank profitability in the way some are claiming. The fact is that the bundling and selling of mortgages as securities became a method for unscrupulous lenders to peddle largely unethically made loans into the larger market rather than seeing them to their fruition. Furthermore, this aspect of the market devalued making good sound loans in favor of making large numbers of loans. I think investment bankers have gotten a bad rap out of this in general when it was a reasonably small segment of the investment banker population that was trading on these higher risk securities. A large amount of the blame lies on the local bankers whose jobs became nothing more than to rubber-stamp every loan that came across their desk in favor of short term profit. These are the real banks that are going to be hurt by this rule. However, it wont really matter seeing as lending in the markets where the problem was created has been so depressed since the real estate market has dropped so drastically. Banks are hiking fines and rates anyways, they aren't hurting, in fact, most have paid back their loans already. Anyways, just my 2 cents.

Snypester....I need your most excellent opinion on two stocks:

OREX

ARNA

Both are pharmaceutical companies that make drugs for fatty fat fat people. I shoulda bought OREX when I heard about the tip initially (2 weeks ago)....because it has gone steadily up.

Just curious what your take is and if there's any room to make a $ or 2 before the FDA approval comes in or the axe falls.

I'm sorry that I haven't been around guys. That REZ auction took some energy. On top of that I had an investment that matured earlier than I thought this week, and I didn't think I would get for another 2 years so I'm busy dealing with that too. I really didn't expect to make this much on it but I ended up turning 45k into 500k in 9 years but it wasn't in the stock market and wasn't on the streets, it was all legal. Anyway I'm pretty happy right now. I'll be back as soon as I can but I wish everyone good luck on your trades and do lots of research. I'm liking the way that the earnings are going this quarter so I really do believe that it's all up from here. I'm setting up an office with lots of TV's and computer screens and I'll be doing a lot more trading withing the next 2 months. This time I'll be paying for internet too and using it as an expense. I'll update more when I can but do your research before you buy anything.

Hot deal o' the morning:

CL: Colgate Palmolive....just lost 6% stock value on earnings reports...(which honestly wasn't that bad at all).

Stocks dropped about $4 a pop. It'll bounce back as alot of people scoop it up on sale.

Easy 4 bucks. Even if it dips again.....historically that company is solid as steel. It'll come back in a few days....or a month worst case scenario. Betcha it'll happen within a day or two tho.

Good luck ppl.

P.S.-This is pretrading hours info. And the stock actually lost about $5. Like found money. Gimme gimme gimme gimme gimme!!!

I sincerely hope someone makes a killing on that tip.....(myself especially).

That stock is already on the move. Rebounding from the trough it was in earlier in pre-hours trading.....Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaw!

Edit: It's looking like a bumpy ride out of the gate. Stock dipping even lower than specified earlier......but if things are business as usual after this rush....things should level out and then rise. We'll see.....

Dipped and stabilized. I bought in at 78.90. Stock is at 78.12. A few friends that bought when it dipped to 76.66 made a buck and a half.....
I was more interested in executing the trade before the opening bell than the price itself. As I said earlier.....that company is solid. The people losing their mind over the earnings reports are clearly insane.......
Seems like Colgate P. will keep choogling along until the next earnings in or around Nov.
If I had to hold onto the stock that long I'd do it, but I doubt it will be necessary.

Couple of other stocks did the same dippity do today.....Kellogs or "K" as it's known on the exchange did almost the same pony trick. Would have been another good buy.

People don't stop buying pet food, toiletries or breakfast items....no matter what the economy does. When these big solid companies take hits because of stock hissy fits....that's the time to buy...when they're discounted for purchase.

Anyway, not sure if anyone capitalized on that...but if you did...I hope you made a quick $1.50 ish per share....and then get more on the earnings rebounds.

Check out interOil company. They hit the scene late last year, an analyst friend of mine told me they were an emerging oil company so i bought 1,000 shares at roughly $10 apiece in October. They quickly shot up to about $70 per share by March and have stabilized and dipped down to mid 60's. Perhaps with this BP oil crisis bullshit going on, its time to invest in other oil companies and InterOil will thrive once again

Damn, $40,000 profit, only 1000 shares, in about a year. That's dope. Lots of people work they're asses off for $40g's, and you did it sitting on your ass watching a ticker. Nice. I gotta get into this stock thing. Too bad I spend all my spare time researching mj cultivation, lol.
