Snow

Being in Canada and it's Winter I figured snow could be topic to talk about. :)

My basement grow area has much more stable humidity and warmth by using snow to cover the outside of the
window. It also cuts down on light leaks which can be a good thing. 10 inches of snow has an R-18 value which
is almost like 4 inches of styrofoam insulation. Best thing it's free with a little hard work and exercise.

Do You Know How To Use Snow For Insulation?

I'm also in the process of melting clean fresh snow indoors and refreezing outside in a shallow tray to make ice.
The ice will be used along with some snow water to make ice/snow water hashish this week if all goes well.

This I will call my process Iceberg Hashish.

I've used melted snow a few times in the past 2 weeks for my plants too. It's the closest thing to rainwater so
it must be very good compared to tap water.

Hmm - interesting - I wonder if you could build a snow igloo - then make a grow room out of it? - The Growgloo - lol

They do sell LED's for Christmas trees. :tiphat:

Anyone who could breed a strain to resist freezing in Winter would be rich. :dance013:

I wonder now if anyone has ever made Dry Sift in a shed in Winter?
Cold temps would keep everything dry and yield more Terps I bet.

Had a small greenhouse and many times shoveled 2-4 ft. snow path to it. In February, used incandescent lights to heat, or the old Coleman kerosene lanterns for heat. But that was for hardy perennials. Didn't start plants until March.

There must be some keen canna-lov'in Inuit/Eskimo or Irishman out there - mad enough to give the GrowGloo - a go -

Hmmm - can't let the heat from any lights melt the roof down - and somehow would have to keep the inside at a temperature some real hardy variety of cannabis can still grow vigorously at -

Yeah way cool - Northern Lights - grown under The Northern Lights - perhaps - up north days are short most of the year - under 12 hours sun per day - might need to augment the lighting with some LED's -

Right - I do vaguely remember hearing stats similar to that some while ago - so it could be possible - and would be an interesting project that's for sure -

Don't they build ice hotels in Finland or Norway every year that people pay to stay at?

So building a grow room with ice should be no problem -

You might be happy to know that an igloo can keep temps as high as +20c when it's -40 outside.

I love winter

no bugs in the garden for 7 months is fine by me ;)

I can't be bothered with building ice houses but I do make the best of winter out on the ice just the same.

Might have to go over there and smuggle some one day and make my own kokanee fishing honey hole in Ontario.
