Smoking Screens Cancer Warning

I use a lot of screens for smoking hash (I like to smoke my hash and weed separately). The label says "This product contains a chemical known to the state of California to cause cancer, birth defects and other reproductive harm."

Anyone avoid screens for this reason?

yes, what are they made of
there is a chance of metals giving off toxic fumes

i agree wiht cannacamper that copper is prob better

https://www.physicsforums.com/threads/any-toxic-fumes-from-heated-copper.785962/

but people also use staneless steel for cooking and i dont imagine that there is any ill effect

i guess if you are concerned you could use one of those glass flower thinggies

*this post may contain words known to the state of California to cause cancer, birth defects and other reproductive harm.

Utah Biodiesel Supply sells stainless steel mesh. :tiphat:

I bought a small 6" x 6" Stainless Steel Mesh Sample Sheet of 5 and 15 micron size
for something else than smoking. I can cut both of these with just scissors as well.

For smoking purposes, I guess you would have to take a much larger micron hole size.
If you bought a sample sheet you would be able to make a bunch of screens and be
set for quite awhile.

I would worry if using a blow torch and heating the hell out of it. I have only vaped for over 2 years, and it seems much, much healthier.

lol I hear ya man. I know the risk isn't that high it's just the concept that bugs me. I even use hemp wick when smoking hash which doesn't give off much heat.

I vaped for a solid year but what can I say, I'm a smoking man.

this is probably of a much higher quality than the stainless steel used for massed produced screens, this is def a step above
/i imagine most mass produced SS screens were made form scrap

Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc. I don't think you want to be inhaling zinc fumes. Brass may also contain small amounts of lead which is really bad news.

I think of all the peeps in the 70s and 80s smoking out of pipes made of brass fittings..usually stolen from a box in shop class...I wonder if it equaled higher health problems...cuz almost everyone I ever smoked w in my teens...in four states...ha..brass fittings...
When it wasn't brass it was shitty wooden pipes..hated those things

Try the Arizer ExtemeQ. They are about $225.00 list, but on E-bay $135. Might want to try someones first. In the beginning it is weird throwing out unburned material.

I am old and coughed up black crap every morning doing about a dozen single hit bongs a night. Switched to that vape, and never coughed up crap again. I run it 220C to start, then after about 5 hits go to 230C, if wanted could go up to 240C, but it is pretty tapped out and lost all flavor at that point. Wish they would create one hit vape bowl. Most pens actually burn.

Just thought, if not hot enough to release tars, then hopefully not hot enough to release toxins from metals.

You could also superheat with torch, and probably burn off the toxins. No expert, research before expecting it to be correct.

California is full of pussies.

But seriously, there is some Prop 81 or the like that requires them to overlabel. Nanny states, voted in by popular demand.

Loc Dog - When I vaped I went with the Arizer Solo. It was a sweet little vape.

That crossed my mind Mikell, with the warning California only.

Foothill- Bought 100 daisy screens. Little more than 10 bucks and reusable. Seemed like a deal. And made in America I believe, not China.
