Smoking 12 hours after wisdom teeth removal

Hey guys,

Around 12 hours ago i had all four of my wisdom teeth removed and im currently on percodan, anti-biotics as well as anti-inflmatories. Oh yeah and the gums where my teeth used to be are stitched shut with saliva soluble threads. So, when i went to the dentists office the nurse asked me if i ever had done recreational drugs, and i said yes, and then she said when was the last time, and i said last night, and she said okay, then she put the nitrous oxide on my face and said well this probably isnt gonna work as well for you as it will for most people cause you do your own thing at home, i guess that was sort of a joke it seemed of good enough nature. Anyway after that she told me that i would not be able to combine the recreational drugs with whatever perscription i was gonna be given. But i think its important to note that neither of us actually made any specific references too any drug in particular. SO! my question to you guys is do you think im good to take a few hits? Or should i just wait it out like the nurse says? Thanks for your advice guys, take it easy.

You should be fine. She prolly just gave you a pain killer which wouldnt react negativly with weed. I think the worry would be coke cause it has that speed balling effect. However I should also note that there could be a risk of infection if you smoke.

I wouldn't do it. Considering the risk of dry socket......I hear that's painful as fuck.

Just make butter and eat your THC, let your mouth heal up first before you toke again.

After second thought I would go with nikijad as I was thinking about pharmalogical effects and not that of the smoke on the site of the wisdom teeth.

Alright yeah its probably worth it to just wait it out, and i honestly dont feel like making cannabutter but thanks for the suggestion though, for two reasons;
1) i only have about a quarter
2) im way to dosile and lazy due to pain killers

But thanks alot for the advice i needed some input. Smoke one for me guys!!! :)

I say take one good hit and then drink water. If you can avoid smoking, though, it'll be better for you.

I'd agree with others in that it would be a good idea to wait as you really don't want a socket to dry out.

With that said I smoked within an hour of getting mine pulled :D

billycw, great advice for those who have a healing socket. Creepy the only thing you need to do is not create a vacuum with your mouth when taking a hit,....ie, drinking thru a straw, or pulling on a joint, cig , or bong. I would reccomend vaping in some fashion if you must burn, Or maybe your girl will blow some shotguns for ya, good luck. peace DLB :joint:

and the worry with smoking through the mouth with your wisdom teeth just taken out is dry socket, not pulling your stiches. so your nose or edibles are your only safe ways.

When I got mine out, (all four at once i smoked a few joints, and some brips and as a result I got dry socket. Dry socket is almost more painful than the operation itself. When I went back to my oral surgeon he had to open the wounds back up and stuff sedative soaked gauze into them, hurts like a bitch

If I had to do it again I'd wait to smoke..

Yea the only worry is dry socket. I would go with what Drlongbottom said and be most concerned about the sucking or vacuum created when hitting on a joint or pipe. Work out the delivery system like a shotgun or something and I say go for it . I was smoking joints well before the day was over with mine.

With smoking the risk of dry socket is greatly increased. I smoked a day after and got dry socket. It's not so painful, it just created a nasty taste and offensive odor in your mouth. Healing time for an untreated dry socket is about 3 times longer than one that has an intact blood clot.

:yeahthats

Don't do it! I smoked less than normal but still ended up with dry socket. Took MONTHS to heal.

I had two chiseled out while they were infected. At the time i was in school and had two kids & wife, couldn't wait.

I didn't get baked, drink, or smoke anything at the time: the decision had been made that school and a job mattered more.

When the anesthetic wore off i began hallucinating from the Demoral and the pain. I was 25 or 6 years old, in perfect shape and a fairly tough s.o.b.

i was calling out for my ''daddy'' to my wife, crying, and sobbing like a child.

I've fallen rock climbing, broke my leg; had broken hands, arms, nose, dislocated jaw fighting; hurt my back in a series of car accidents;

none of that was remotely like the pain of those teeth.

If there's any option at all man, beware this: it's grown men telling you bad wisdom tooth action hurts, and i trust those people, and i adjure you with all the sincerity i have: don't do anything to risk it.

I'm not sure what a dry socket is; i don't think i had that, because mine got well, but for about two or three days, i was in and out, and that fuckin demoral just made me goofy as a circus clown. No amount of codeine could kill the pain. I took it till my wife was afraid to give me more: with the demoral sometimes; and it never cut it, one whit.

Tylenol 4's weren't shit compared to that pain.

Good luck, man; beware: infections, up in the bones of your head, is one hurting deal.

okay ive heard enough! fuck smoking until it heals, you guys have described enough to me, so much that im creating very vivid, and graphic images in my head that are enough to keep me miles from any piece of herb. Besides my babies of course.

I think as an alternative im gonna pick up this book i was reading at chapters the other day; BUD INC. , im not sure if its out in the states yet but its about B.C's marijuana industry and how it is that largest contributor to B.C's economy, i was reading stats like: in 2000 without commissions factored in bud accounted for a total of 1.7 billion of the provinces income and with commisions it was estimated to be 6.1-7.3 billion, where as the tobacco industry only accounted for a total of 2.3 billion. Marijuana was also being compared to the wheat, and beef industries saying how it was more than the two combined, and those are supposed to really be Canada's main agricultural exports. Anyway, interesting stuff, im sure it would be an appealing read to anyone who smokes bud, which is pretty much everyone on this site so i thought id just get it out! Enjoy and thanks alot for the advice. :D Peace
