Smart Pots

I just planted two seeds today into standard 1 quart round garden containers and placed them in the tent. I put them directly on the floor of the tent though, they need warmth not air right now. I'll transplant before they get root bound, how long that will take I'm not sure but when I see roots popping out the bottom (I have 4 square holes in the bottom sides of my containers) I'll transplant them into 3 gal smart pots. Should I flower in bigger smart pots or is 3 gal good?

I flower in 3 gallon fabric bags, and plants look good and grow tall. You can put larger plants in these bags because the roots occupy more of the soil.

Ive got some of Sam's Skunk x Haze that are around 55 inches tall in my 3 gallon bags. They also suck the bag dry in 2 days too..so you had better be on your watering.

This was with 2-3 weeks of time in the 3 gallon bags before flowering.

Ah that is great news, I was hoping as much!

root pruning.

1)You need to have more respect.

2)Read the thread, it's about more than the specific brand of pots, but of philosophy on roots as well. Many of us growing organic use these types of pots, whether smart pot brand or not.. I happen to use 'root pots' because they are made from 100% recycled material and are 100% biodegradable.

You'll find other 'pots' mention inside, like air pots, etc...

3)Accusing one of this forums greatest contributors of being a corporate shill is worse than an insult.

Stick to your crappy plastic containers and shoo off :)

all this un-warranted hostility... all was doing was asking a question, which has still yet to be answered.

and your rude to make assumptions about my container use... which btw plastic or smart pot...

IT'S STILL NOT ORGANIC SOIL...

Ah, I see. Thanks :tiphat: So keep the plants off the ground using some sort of caging? I have some old metal grid shelves that might work.

I just bought a planter tray at home depot and put a layer of lava rock down on it, then my smart pots sit on the layer of lava rock. The trays are from those fake terra cotta pots and are sturdy enough to allow you to move the plants around easily if you wish.

if you really can't understand why a thread that was started years ago about smart pots when they were just coming onto the 'cannabis scene' from the tree industry, which then turned into a complete thread about roots, air pruning, and the MANY different styles and brands available , is important to organic gardeners, then maybe you are hanging out in the wrong threads..

If you don't have the ability to read an entire thread before making stupid comments on it, again, maybe you are in the wrong forum.

By the way,the 'cough cough bullshit cough', became not funny around the same time the 'loser cough' died out.Like anytime after say...the mid 90's? Or anytime after middle school..

You should write a formal letter to Gypsy Nirvana / icmag DEMANDING them to change the title of the thread to 'Air Pruning Soil Containers'..

We'll all be backing you up..

I just got 50 Air-Pots for my next vertical coco run. I took the advice and got 25 x 1 litre air-pots, and 25 x 10. I'm aiming for 1000 Grams with a 600w bare bulb, lets see if the Air-Pot, Coco, and Vertical will be the perfect combination for this. I have a good feeling.

All the Best.

4sd on the right just went from a #2 to #7 about a week ago. She's exploding with new growth. First summer grow at 26N with the smartpots, so far so good.

i will indeed post results as i get them and thanks for
the interest.

peace, SOG

oh, and ghettochild, it was YOU that was rude, coming
in late to the party without reading the thread first.

insulting people is no way to add to the community,
and the original poster is a pioneer who's been here
for years helping others like you and me so maybe
it's no surprise your disrespect got the response it did.

I have used smartpots, airpots, and am now using rootpots outdoors with excellent results. i would like to contribute what I know on the subject--just as I would like to contribute to a lot of the threads on IC mag, but the problemn is this: Every thread on ICmag turns into an argument within a page or two because everyone here knows everything, and everyone else is trying to one-up the other guy. What a shame that IC mag has a reputation in the cannabis forum community as being a terribly negative place to hang out. What a shame that the tremendous wealth of collective knowledge posessed by the many, many informed and experienced growers on this site is completely overshadowed by the fact that so many of us act like little bitches. Who the heck is moderating this joint? Why can't we all just get along? Jeeze! I come here whenevever I get stuck for information because I know it can be found here if nowhere else. But who the hell wants to wade through the shitstorm to find what one is looking for? It's pathetic. And I know someone is going to hop on here and tell me that it is in fact I that am being an asshole and a bitch, and perhaps I am, but enough is enough. You all are ruining this forum with your egos--not all of you. The bitches know who they are.

Nobody is plugging anything here. Airpruning pots--in my opinion--are one of the best things to happen to cannabis farming in quite a while, and smartpots were the first brand that was widely available. Remember how every copy machine was called a xerox back in the 80's? It's kind of like that--not a product plug.

It is a shame but how else are we supposed to think when all the media/schools do is cram evolution and 'survival of the fittest' down our throats BRAIN WASHING us to think that we must compete and be better then others to survive - I am here to tell you this is NOT the case!! Everyone has a different skill, utilizing those skills in UNISON is what makes for more sound and happy life on earth. Please this is not the start of an evolution debate, it's a great theory that I believe holds water EXCEPT the truth of it has been twisted and they teach it now as FACT. Everytime I watch history channel I hear "100000 zillion years ago" not "In theory the earth is 10000 zillion years old"

I've been into a plethora of hobbies in my life and every-single-one has the same problem, people who cannot get along because of pride. I used to be into herpetology (the study of reptiles and amphibians) and I'd have to be careful of which of my friends I would invite to go on a hunt because so many did not get along and would end up ruining a really fun time because of STUPID disagreements. Or you hear the "I'm not going if so-and-so is going" - how the fuck old are you people?

So if you really wan't to evolve, stop competing and get along with your fellow brother/sister and blaze one with them!

There is no only different types of skill but different types o fpeople that have a different purpose. I know alot of lazy ass people dont mind being poor but they will cook or clean for a littlle money. Back in the day they understood this , but that knowledge as seem to got lost.
