Smart Pots how exactly do they work?

I put holes all the way around my hempy tubs, which were filled with perlite. I never managed to fill them so quickly that the water/feed could possibly come close to overflowing the top of the tub.

Thats what I was trying to get at.... if more holes around the permieter of the bucket was OK or if there is a benefit to simply 1 slow draining hole.

I didnt know if Hempy growers were shooting for the whole flooded saturation thing similar to D9s PPKs before the slower draining of the upper medium.

Thanks SeaMaiden :tiphat:

Noyd, I used 30gal bins, no chance of picking those babies up in any event! Three years later I still have two of 'em out on my back deck, filled with perlite.

I forgot to mention that these were outdoors, so I didn't have to worry about the overflow making a huge mess. Otherwise, I might use trays of some sort. Did I mention these were pure perlite? VERY fast-draining, no chance of anything remaining on the surface whatsoever.

Glad my response helped. :)
