SMALLEST air-cooled hood??

I just want to know about the smallest air-cooled hood available, period. I've search for hours several times, but never found anything really all that small.

So, just want to see what "mini" sized air cooled hoods the folks here know about

Those glass tube reflectors are the smallest your going to find. If you want to make one yourself out of sheet metal, just screw a little flat bar in the end of a 3"-4" reducer, mount a socket in it, then wrap a piece of sheet metal around half of it. It is not sealed, but you could make a pretty small air cooled reflector

theres the maxicool over here, but that isnt a through n through, just a small hood with a 4 inch spigot on top sucking from the canopy..no glass.....

What do you need it to do? I mean is it for a 150, or a 1000? Bulb size matters.

yeah cooltubes are probably going to be the smallest option. If you want a great aircooled hood get the Sun Systems Super Sun 2. It is smaller than most aircooled hoods and puts out more light than all other reflectors I have tested.

yep, they are almost just as small as the cool tubes....and cool tubes reflection sucks if i remember correctly (someone here had a grow and tested it)

hey pico how do you think the relection is in a 1000w with the cool sun2...if i remember correctly you did the test with 600hps right?

i mean im sure its good, but i mean do you think there be light lost since the hood is so small? maybe it just puts down a deeper input?

it is the super sun 2, not the cool sun. Cool Sun is a different hood that didn't test as well.

I currently run 1000w bulbs in super sun 2s. I also run 600s. I have only tested the 600s, but why do you think that light would be lost since the hood is small? I mean it it reflects light better for a 600w lights I would think it would do the same for a 1000w light. Remember, with a 1000w light you would have the reflector a little higher above the canopy and that would make a wider distribution of light. One of these days I might try to test a few different hoods with 1000w lights, but that might be a while.
