Damn knee is swollen up lots today- I’m waiting for knee replacement surgery as I’ve been hobbling around for months, and taking stairs one at a time is getting irritating.
Old injury from around 20 years ago, had to have 2 operations which left me nearly no cartilage, and last year what was left disappeared
Pain killers are useless.
Weed makes it more bearable

Do they bother you when you're prone, laying down in bed, etc.?

If so, and having them touching when laying on your side hurts, using a thinner pillow between them to pad against contact can help. Doesn't do much for being up and about, but helps to get some sleep that way.

A Doc did 2 procedures on my right knee nearly 32 years ago, failing to remember one of the 2 procedures he did when he assigned at-home exercises for me; I couldn't even move that leg the next day to do the exercises, and thought he'd fouled up the 'wiring.' PANIC that next couple days trying to get ahold of him 300+ miles away, to see why my leg wouldn't move!!

He said at the time that the benefit of the procedures was time-limited, and the gains wouldn't last for ever. I still used the knee more or less fully, though squats hurt the tendons & muscles in there like a bastard.

They wanted to do the other knee afterward, and I told them that when I could no longer remember how badly the first procedure and knee hurt, they might do the second one. I still remember. Opiates were like jelly beans at that time. And it STILL hurt back then, post-op. Opiates barely touched it.

I haven't had to go back in for anything on the knees since then, but admit I was fairly careful with them, especially the right knee, after the procedures.

Likely due to my failure to be as dilligent as I might've been with exercises, I don't think I ever quite regained the full use of that knee that I'd had pre-op, but I was strong due to other aspects of life's activities, and so maintained most of the activity I'd have done as I aged anyway; no tackle football and only limited (but successful) running, but quite active.

Anything in the main support column in the body; neck, spine, hips, knees, ankles, that gets messed with, especially involving the body's 'natural padding' in the joints/vertebrae or core strength, is apt to give us 'returns' that eventually disappoint over time, or worse. Overall, despite what ever gains modern medical science has made, it's still often short of the miracles of Mother Nature's mastery of constructing the original functioning body. In effect, bandaids.

My knees, and specifically the muscles to the outsides of my upper calves and alongside the knees, have been killing me lately, to the point of now interfering in sleeping late at night; likely a result of returning nerve interference in the spine since my triple laminectomy in the lumbar and lower thoracic nearly 4 years ago. Another time-limited gain.

But the pain killers are a no-go, though I have lots here from previous procedures. The muscle relaxers, which I also have a variety of, in quantity, are also not as functional, as they screw me up under the influence, & further rob the productivity for those times if I'm being thoughtful (as they can mess a person up further , thinking they feel good enough to engage in activities they'll eventually pay for in spades later), and the sedatives can, for some, make for a nasty attitude, as well as being quite addictive.

Aging sucks, especially with old injuries, and short of a knee replacement with a titanium joint(s), severing the bones above and below the knee joint (which can also have poor results if not done by the best of the best under good circumstances) it can be difficult to live in harmony with those parts of the body that were operated upon over time. As it sounds like you're currently well aware.

Good luck. I literally feel for you.

Kills pain? No. No cannabis product that I have tried actually kills pain. But it does take your mind off of it so you can function. Hell, I painted a section of the ceiling in our rec room today, practising my acrobatics on a ladder and slip-sliding on the plastic drip sheet. With my arthritic hands and fucked up back, it hurt. My bubble hash supply has just taken a hit but I am smiling again. ;)

That’ll do for me!
Actually I have some trim saved for bubble hash now you mention it 🤔

Just made some qwiso with my saved bits and pieces, looked a nice amber colour in the jar. Got it nearly all evaporated over hot water, but I’m letting it finish off on top of the tent in front of the outlet fan.
Hoping it kills pain, although doesn’t look a lot there 🤔
How long did you let the iso sit on the material?

Shook it for 30 seconds, then put through a metal screen, then paper coffee filter
Hopefully it’ll be good 👍
The 30-second mark was the recommended time in my learning for an aesthetic-quality smoking oil, similar to red Nepalese or red Lebanese hash oil of yesteryear (courtesy of a former member 'here', a youngster from BC, by the online/forum name of 'Shmike', years ago). (spelling?).

When I'm making my extract for medicinal reasons, to load into capsules, it's closer to 15-20 minutes of kneading in bags before pouring.

I used to use the untreated brown paper coffee filters, but graduated to the reusable metal (stainless steel) coffee filters with very fine pores.

Similar to these:

You can re-filter a second time if any micro or tiny debris in the oil is unwelcome. Though with medicinal capsules, I haven't found that necessary.

I'd also guess that filtering through the untreated brown paper filters -after- filtering through these, would go faster without using as many paper filters in the second process as one would use in the first go-'round..

Edit: Some of the reusable stainless steel filters will have finer pores than others. I've tried to stick to those with the smallest pores possible.

Unfortunately the 'if' part of that seems to diminish with time. It becomes 'which' as in . . . Which body part is going to piss me off today? And somehow the answer always leads to another Wake & Bake. :rasta:
I've found the 4:30 AM tequila, pomegranate juice, lemon juice, lime juice, and seltzer water (with 3 ice cubes) is effective, in conjunction with 2-3 puffs of hash. Except then I wake up next with munchies.

Spiraling diminishing returns of choices between which side-effect is most debilitating in the end. But mostly done in the best of spirits.

BTW, a 1-lb. bag of ginger chews arrived, and they're pretty tasty. Haven't used them yet as an anti-nausea tool, but flavor and texture-wise, they're more or less what I'd anticipated. Thanks for the tip.

I only chew 1 or 2 in a day, due to the 4-grams of carb per each, but they'll last that much longer.

I might sometime try to replicate something similar with even more ginger and a bit less cane sugar, but not sure when that experiment might begin.

Good stuff!!

Hospital today- they think I can avoid surgery for now 🥳🥳 on my knee, so I’m going to have physio to try and strengthen the muscle around the area.
Hope they’re right- at the moment it feels like it’s going to give way multiple times a day, plenty of pain and locks up when I stand.
They said don’t worry, that’s just your kneecap catching in the joint (!)
Longer I can stay out of surgery the better I think
