Dr.Jay, I think Homegrownsweets could be on to a winner...why not start a strain/smoke report in the medical marijuana forum, the site definetly needs one at the minute...just a suggestion

That's a great idea Morganic and Homegrown Sweets. I mean it's great that we have our bud shots and grow reports etc. but for patients we all what to know how different strains work for what disorders. Between us we have tons of information that may help new people to select medicine. I'll get to work on it.

Dr. Jay

I am not a Medical user but know many who could benifit from having such knowlage.
It would be nice if knew what strain was used for what ailments.

When someone asks what I would recomened for say Back Pain, all I know of is LS. Bet there are others.

right on Sin...

Black Domina
Trainwreck
BubbaKush
Hash Plant
SensiStar

these are strains which I have read about that would be able to help me with my chronic pain issues and anxiety from being a shut-in. I look forward to taking a trip to the west coast in 2 years so that I can obtain the clones I will need to heal myself. Alot of people with chronic pain from whatever ailment become opiate addicts and a slave to the wide array of doctors looking to overbill your insurance in some instances and threaten your coverage. Prescription drugs are expensive and for the price I pay for oxycotin is ridiculous in more ways than one :(

Thanks for giving us a glimpse of medicine I hope to substitute my current prescriptions with and I think it would be great if we had a medical marijuana strain list and or strain guide on this site :) what other strains did i fail to mention....

I agree Sinfuldreams..i know a guy with arthuritus that wants a muscle relaxant but not a knock out high, so to have somewhere to look and find info would save a few years trying to grow out and find the perfect strain. Definetly worth starting.

About the arturitus(spelling)...what do ya think would be good for it...ideally you'd want a nice balance...maybe something with a bit of haze in it!!

I took your advice and the first of what I hope to be many smoke reports is now up in the Medical Forum. I chose Lifesaver to start because it's one of our standards. You ask for relaxation without being snowed? Lifesaver.

I have severe back and neck pain and agree with the Friendlyfriends list. I'd also add for back pain and arthritis:

Lifesaver
Black Domina
Sensi Star
Train Wreck
White Widow (White Rhino)
Blueberry (Blue Satellite)
Cali-O

The Lifesaver, Blueberry, and Cali-O all have a bit of a lift to them. In the case of LS and Cali-O it is a Haze influence and with Blueberry it's an upland Thai Sativa.

So, please, go add your own smoke reports. What works best for you for:

Migraine
Bipolar disorder
Nausea
Fibromyalgia
Myofacial Pain Syndrome
Chronic pain
Neuropathy
Hepatitis C
etc.

Dr. jay

Wow. Nice pics and good information all in one thread. But some sad stories too. I messed up my back 8 years ago and it has been all downhill since.

Watch out for the methadone.! It seems some can't tolerate it well and I am one of them. The docs only had me on it for about a year and it took me about 10 weeks of brutal withdrawals to kick it and finally start feeling better recently. Now my body burns thru oxycodone in about an hour and a half.

It seems most agree that Lifesaver and Trainwreck are two of the best for pain? Smoking really helps with the nausea and spasms and then I have a brownie or tincture to knock me out at night.

I can't help much with naming helpful strains because all I have is a "no-name" Hawaiian Indica and a little white widow. The Hawaiian is definitely a couch-lock stoners' paradise.

Keep that pain info coming, I will be buying some seeds soon. Thanks.

peace,
medicine man

"I have a brownie or tincture to knock me out at night."

Thanks for the reminder MM. I too eat one (or two) cannycookies each night. I eat mine on a schedule. Cookies get downed at 8:00 PM so I can get to sleep by 10-11. Usually the cookies provide about 6 hours of sleep which really helps in dealing with pain the next day.

Hawaiian Indica is wonderful. It's silly to get hung up on strain names. If you have a solid Indica that works then who cares really what it is or what to call it except for the fact if you're buying seeds you might want something close.

I was on methadone via pain management for 5 years. I've been off now for four. The withdrawal was, indeed, a nightmare and lasted for 3 months. I'd much rather kick morphine or heroin than that darn methadone.

Dr. Jay

And just when you think it's over......

When our indoor blew up we still had just a couple of TRC's Devastator's and a couple of OG Skunk/Afghani that we saved and gave their own 430 W Hortilux.

The Devastator we saved from the blown 1,000 was good but these are spectacular for resin and a sickenly sweet odor.

She should be ready in about 2 weeks and that really is the last of the indoor for this year. Enjoy!

Yours,
Dr. Jay

Thanks Friendly. We didn't have time to pinch or train these girls. We flowered them when just 12". They grew to about 24" with one main stalk or cola formation. The Devastator would be perfect done this way in SOG.

btw, just when I thought we'd be out of medicine, I reported how Texas and Humboldt friends rescued me. Then, I find a jar of cured Sweet Kush (Sweet Tooth #3 x Bubba Kush). The Kush has been curing for 9 months and the nugs are now rock hard orange pieces of hash.

Here's a 3 gram bud that I've decided to give to one of those who helped so much. I'll bet it's tasty :)

Dr. Jay

The Devastator are now just days from finishing (pics 1 &2) and the Skunk has about 2-3 weeks. We have begun to flush.

This last round is making a great good-bye to indoor gardening. The Devastator is sickenly sweet with whiffs of garlic and the Skunk smells Hawaiian.

For Skunk lovers everywhere!

Why thank you Flowerman! So, here's the summary:

Humboldt Lifesaver- Smooth grape flavor, relaxing, and fun

Humboldt Train Wreck- Strong menthol, hash feeling in the nose, spacy strong buzz.

Humboldt Burmese: Smells like bananas, spicy, strong Indica buzz

G-13: Tastes like dirt, harsh, huge potent buzz that lays you out

Apollo x Sensi Star: Still drying :)

Skunk- Tastes like toast, lovely mild up buzz

Devastator- Garlic taste, hashy in the nose, potent Indica buzz

and the all time winner: (drum roll).......

Santa Marta Gold- Best tasting pot since Cali-O, balanced, smooth, all Sativa uplifting and energetic buzz. As potent as C-99 but far smoother in effect. Lovely. Wifes new favorite!

I am throughly please your medicine is at such an incredible level. Your reports are a breath of fresh air and Dedicating a sticky thread to med. mj is essential to this forums acessability and research capacities.

BY THE WAY THAT SANTA MARTA GOLD!!! absolutely thrilling! where or how could i procure one. I am only interested in strains of your testing caliber and SMG seems like it might do the trick :) Are there ways in easily obtaining medical clones for people like me in new york? thanks again

LOL. I'm not really a pot snob. I mean I love a good solid California Indica and such BUT.....

When you grow your own you get this chance to grow some really extraordinary plants. Remember the dealers headstash? Well, now we all (you too!) can grow better.

The Santa Marta Gold is just such an example. I got a cutting from a friend and we only had time to flower the girl. Once we get moved we'll have to find that girl again for she is a real keeper.

I admit to a Sativa bias only because I can stay awake to enjoy the ride. There's nothing wrong with Sensi Star or G-13 etc. but they are "night-time" meds for me.

Many of us who came up in the 60's remember "speed weed" or "trip weed". This was the type of Sativa you and your buddies would toke on all night until the night was a long mushroom trip. We would (and still do) listen to music, tell stories, wave sparklers, etc.

And the great thing is that pot is NOT gone!

I'll give you a short example. Last night the Wife and I toke up some Santa Marta Gold. I hand Wife a yellow lighter and she says "how did you get TWO yellow lighters?"

So, I tell her that whenever I break a lighter out of the pack I clone it so a new one will be ready when the old one runs out.

That's Santa Marta Gold. Then we end up arguing over who would go first at a Yukon four way stop in the middle of winter. The Mountie? The Wolverine? The drunk gold miner? Or the Dominoes pizza man? Who has the right of way?

Yup, Santa Marta Gold

Oh boy, these girls are nearly ready to come down. These Skunks (top pic) and Devastators (pics 2 and 3) have an unbelievable aroma. They are sweet/skank and loaded with resin. I can't wait to try um!

And finally.....here's some of the Apollo x Sensi Star. This is a sweet and VERY strong strain. While the yield was very low the bud is incredible.
