Simple Harvest and Cure (Step By Step)

So I don't want to really buy a bunch of jars and hygrometer. Can I put the bud in a rubbermaid tote and just use one hygrometer? If the rubbermaid tote is not good what is? This is my first grow and I want a nice cure.

Not all airtight containers will give the best results. You don't want the weed to taste like the packaging. I have a few friends who grow for clubs, they like to use turkey bags to store the weed after it is dried.

With that said, investing in a flat of jars is not going to put most folks into the poorhouse. I recommend using the jars.

Well the jars are cheap and can be had at a good price. The only thing that worries me is the hygrometer. I have different strains so would each jar have a different rh? Would 1 hygrometer in any given jar give an ball park estimate of the rh the other jars have? I apologize for the multiple questions. I have to move soon and dont have the extra bread to fork out on multiple Caliber III hygrometers.

Even with one strain, it's quite possible that different jars will have different RH.

Any reason you couldn't put the hygrometer in one jar, close the lid, wait 5 minutes, check RH, remove hygrometer, put in second jar, repeat?

Not as convenient as having a separate one for each jar, but definitely cheaper.

Ok cool. Are the Caliber III the only hygrometers recommended? I will grab one of them and some analog ones.

I also recommend the Hydroset II and the Xigar (same product), provided they're calibrated. I do not recommend analog hygrometers at all.

BTW I will salt test all the hygrometers for accuracy. I hope I don't find any surprises. Haha

The issue with analog hygrometers isn't just a lack of accuracy. They also suffer from mechanical binding, if you will, often not displaying a reasonable reading until physically manipulated. If you're trying to save money, you're much better off oping for the ~$3-$4 ebay digitals from Hong Hong and calibrating them. How big of a harvest are we talking about?

Edit: I just took a quick look at your grow thread. If we're discussing a 5x5 1200w harvest, you can buy 2.5gal airtight glass jars at Target. They hold quite a bit. FWIW, that's what I use.

Awesome. Its one around the corner. I will go grab some! Would you happen to have the brand name or link?

I have not seen a trimmer that I would put my buds in yet. Not to say one does not exists, just the ones I have seen look like they are real hard on the bud.
I might try an aardvark (spelling) but I think that is more like a automatic scissor/razor for weed. Not going to run out and get one.

I watched Jorge Cervantes use one on youtube yesterday. Although I like Jorge and respect the man, I would not do that to my bud.

I'm using your method now....thanks...of course I cheated,:whistling: and smoked some on the 5th day...I expected a headache, but what I got was awesome! can't imagine it getting any better/or smoother

Turkey bag. ???

Turkey bag. ???

I heard of hanging buds to dry outdoors and indoors cool and dark. For about a week?
My method will be using turkey bags to cure. As the bag is closed for 12hours. Shoud i put a small paper inside so all evaporates to paper?

My wife does the same thing. But it does in fact get better after sitting in the jars a few weeks.
