Silverback is Dead

Truly saddened by the disappearance of silverback. I didn't know him in person, but I religiously read all his threads. A wealth of knowledge and widsom.

R.I.P. Silverback. You were one of the Legends. Another man who brought us to where we are. Another North American that bred a famous strain that the Dutch watered down to make money off the name.

Silverback should have made that cash for his family not the Dutch with their watered down version.

Very bad news, Grow in peace Silverback, we are all sad to loose you, happy you went as a free man doing what you loved, thankyou so much for all the information and help you took the trouble to give.

To those lucky enough to know him, please try your best to carry on his Spirit and good work, it is the best tribute the man could have.

He sounds like he was a real genuine, life long, Ganjaman!

The older I get, the younger 62 seems! lol. I bet a lot of twenty and thirty-somethings think 62 is ancient but it isn't really, it's all about how you've lived your life and how lucky you are with the genes you've been given. A stressed out, over-weight, lifetime cigarette smoker who sits on his ass all day and eats processed food is old at 50, but an active, self-made guy who lives right is still young, fit and quick brained at 70.

I spend most of my time here on Icmag in the Hashish and Toker's lounge, so sadly, never got the chance to read any of Silverback's posts, but from what I've read in this thread and as I've done my fair share of growing outdoors in the bush, I'd love to read more of his posts, as many as possible....as we know, when a member cancels their account, it becomes just one of the many anonymous posts from "Guest" which makes it impossible for others here to search and learn from their wisdom.

For security reasons, we should never highlight posts, PMs (especially PMs!) or other info from a cancelled account for fear of putting the actual person behind that online name in potential legal trouble, but sadly, as Silverback has passed, I propose, with permission from his wife and those running this site, that members who are familiar with Silverback's posts and PMs to re-post the ones that meant something to them and feel may help others here reading this thread (though obviously, edit out anything that remotely refers to his area, names, nicknames and persons etc)..this will be a tribute to the man and will help others.

Truly an obvious inspiration to many. Thanks for the great contribution to this world Silverback.

My condolences go out to his friends and family.

"That shit that killed MJ/Elvis" should definitely be mass produced, keep the legacy alive.

RIP silverback

Sad to see him go, this being my first outdoor season his posts were critical for the amount of success im having. Even if the post was 20+ pages of discussion on the facts I still got a promp and very thorough answer when I needed to ask something. Such a pure motivation of sharing something so great is what makes him an honorable person

I came to this to learn how to grow properly. Silverback's threads and posts were full of priceless information. He inspired me to make a guerilla water collar. You could just sense there is a great persona behind his posts.
A truly sad news. You will be remembered SB.

This is what SB posted after telling him a friend tossed 2 femmed power plants because they were not vigorous.

" Hey jakeh.

Tell him the fems are the only way to go for outdoor. They even make good moms and you can breed them. They have truly revolutionized the outdoor grow. My work is half and my harvest has doubled. once tried he'll be hooked. Sensi star, sensi star.

yeah, tell him some of the things we learned through the years have been reconsidered. There is no question that he knows stuff that only comes from experience that few people know. He's probably forgotten more stuff than many know. But take it from someone in the same boat, I sometimes have to be careful about thinking i know to much. There are always new tricks, and sometimes it does an old dog good to learn them.

My whole concern was that you could potentially yank up the shit that killed elvis and never know you had it. With hybrid plants, every single seed has the potential for being 1 in a million. With any 10pak of hybrids available, you can get 9 mediocre plants and one that pumps out gobs of resin. It is usually the oddballs in the bunch. I know a guy who's selling rooted cuts of a grapefruit plant for 1500$ per because of the potency and taste. It just showed up and looked a little unusual in a pack of seeds he bought from RM.. I once popped a pack of seeds and 1 of the females was weakly and showed leaf deformities. I almost pulled it but I had the room so i left it. About a month before the onset of flower ,it demonstrated a real genetic abnormality in that it seemed to be confused as to when and where it was supposed to produce resin and was pumpin out heavy trichs even in the veg stage. She froze when an ice storm cut the electric for a week, but that plant fillled mother rooms in this whole area for several years because its potency was through the roof. The plant came from a 20$ pack of seeds.

I dont blame him for not wanting to come on to the net. Us old schoolers found it best to keep our head down and our mouth shut. Most of us have paid dearly for our habit and have spent a considerable amount of time in the real cannabis college and under state custody.

As a soon to be new grower, I always read posts under his signature. His piece entitled 60/60 was an eye opener for me. Also, his writeup on Greencure will hopefully be something I put to use. Go With God!

this is terrible news to find out. i give my condolences out to his wife. i am truly saddened by this and i will definitely spark one up for him tonight. i have not been on IC as much lately because i keep a hectic work schedule and have little to no time for the internet now. i got on a few weeks ago and was looking for his posts and was wondering where he went. he was full of knowledge and was always willing to share it with you. him and Julian have taught me more on this website than all the other people combined. truly a privilege to have met silverback even if it was just over the internet.

rip

What an old master.. he actually posted that killer new haven didn't exist and some stuff about bubblegum, never mentioning he had actually created it. The only thing that makes me happy about this is that he died doing what he knew was right despite the immense risks and penalties of growing in KY. RIP old guerilla guru, glad I followed your posts before you pulled the plug.

Later days, Silverback, and we'll see you where the mountains reach for the open sky, as the eagle soars and calls, mournfully, to the heavens.

Rest in peace brother. You'd probably have lived another 20 years if you didn't have to duck the law just to grow something that in reality is so beneficial and harmless.
