The air going through the furnace is absolutely isolated from the pilot-- If not, don't you think it would just blow it out every time it ran??
There is nothing about forcing air through your ducts that will blow up a furnace....worst thing I can think of, is humidity collecting in the duct, and mold or mildew growing in them....blowing all over your house, but no explosions--

I am glad you said it. I have no idea how a furnace works but it seems like the air being heated is not in direct contact with the flame or gas for obvious reasons.

Swimming Pools??

Swimming Pools??

If I ever had tons of heat to vent, I'd consider venting it into my swimming pool. Keep it nice and warm in the winter. A heated pool would show up on flir, but it would just look like a, well, heated pool.

Flaws with this one? Would need an insulated pipe into the pool, and it would take some work/bucks to get it stealthily into the pool, but seems to be a stupid, silly way to avoid flir! Would be some nice bubbles in the pool but that could be obscured with a water feature or something.

The thing that came to my mind when I read this, is to dig a hole, maybe 2 feet across by 6 feet deep...run your exhaust duct (non collapsible)through the basement wall, into the hole, then fill the hole with a mixture of coarse gravel and charcoal...it should filter it, and disperse hot air nicely--

id rather not put a huge hole in my foundation and create a huge red flag on an ir system

any other suggestions?

I was thinking a 6 or 8 inch hole, just through the wall of the basement, with the actual hole being in the dirt outside-- If you are only talking summertime, the air, once cooled by the rock temp, will not be that much hotter than the surrounding air (in Summertime)-- And, more importantly, would not be matching any signatures for grow rooms--
Haha...maybe too many brews and hash hits....just trying to think of the best for basement grows-- Maybe just have your areas set up so that your AC for veg and flower would be in corners...so the exhaust from that could be contained in a closed space, and cooled independently from the grow-- (maybe run duct through the lights to exhaust in there also--)
Damn marijuana's side effect of making you think of shit that would not be important if you didn't grow... :muahaha: :rasta:

so do you think exausting into the vent for the hot wter heater will work theres a 6" main duct and a 3" comming off that for the hot water heater but i could hook the exaust up to the bottom of the main

Sorry kmk I wasn't refering to the gas furnace situation,I was refering to the outdoor wood boiler, which is surrounded by a pressurized water jacket containing a mixture of water and glycol, and forcing your light heat into that would most definatley create something bad! Mabey not an explosion but none the less something that I really have no desire in experiencing! That is what I thought people were coming down on confereate 69 about.Which like I said, would not be in anyones best interest With the limited experience that I have in gas furnaces,I think that I'l leave that to the people that have the relevent experience with them, unlike myself who has prior experieces with wood boilers.
