hey guys,

its my first time growing from seed. one of my seedlings seems to be yellowing and growing what looks like rust. i had them in red beer cups till yesterday then i transplanted them to 1 gallon grow bags.

im thinking that they were root bound and proly hungry for some N. but id really like the opinion of the pros. pics are below please let me know what yall think.

details:

growing in FFOF cut with some perlite worm castings and myco fungus. feeing filtered tap water. not ph'd. im going to pick up some PBP grow and LK today.

Thanks
-Vini

the flash kinda disclored the one on the right but u can see the color in the picture above.

not sure what this is, i thought it could be spider mites but its not spreading and i took a good look under a 10x magnifying glass and couldn't find anything.

How often are you watering? How long have they been in that mixture?

Your plants look over watered... which will lead to them yellowing, nitrogen is not absorbed well in soils that are kept wet or soggy.....

How much are you watering when you water?
If they have not been in that mixture very long I would most defiantly not recommend feeding them....... the mixture is plenty strong if they have not been in there very long that is.......

Hey Stitch,

they were in red beer cups till yesterday then they were transplanted into 1 gallon containers. in the beer cups they needed watering every day. so far i've only watered them once in the 1 gallon grow bags. i guess im going to leave them till the soils dry and hope they perk up.

Ya, those plants are a little small for 1 gallon size containers; meaning they are fine; bt the amount of soil to roots in the 1 gallon container is small; so 1 gallon size pot is fine nothing wrong with it, just the soil mass to root mass in there is no; which means when you water them you should not have to water the whole gallon yet since the root mass is not taking up the pot and since you just transplanted the root mass will still be in the center in the shape of the beer can.... so watering ni the middle of the pot and 1 in circumference will be ok, watering around the area where the root mass is not there yet, I would not do that untill a week from now untill the plant has grown stretched it's roots out a bit, till the plants get around 4 sets of leaves on it I would not water the entire pot yet; just where the roots are; this saves on overwatering the plant.

Have you made a choice up what you want to feed them in terms of nutrients?
One thing must be made very clear..... never listen to the back of the bottle of nutrients unless it's made by advanced nutrients canna and GH... sometimes GH can be off, but the other 2 are fine. The rest of the companies do not listen to them; there feeding terms are ridiculous and will burn your plants in a feeding.

What soil mixture did you transplant them into? I hope it's not FFOF....

I transplanted them into FFOF cut with 30% perlite. im planning on using PBP grow and bloom and some guano tea in flowering.

whats wrong with FOx farms?

oh god dude, If they start to show crispy leaves and spotting; they have to be transplanted into a different mixture. FFOF is very rich in nutrients and cannabis plants that size depending on the strain may not be able to tolerate a rich soil at that size in life.... when they get big enough around 5 to 6 sets of leaves max they can handle it most of the time.... I have seen some plants not tolerate it till much later in life.....

So it is very rich, I still say you are going to have problems right now to where they will get burned. After the plants have been in there for around 24 days you can start to feed them.... you will need to feed before flowering if your plants get hungry....
depends on the size you grow your plants too.

But ya dude, watch very closely in a few days if they start to brown, tips get burnt looking or leaves start to twist, remove them from the mixture into a different mixture for now....

These are OG Kush bagseed, a friend of mine grew them the same way and he didnt have any problems. i'll keep a look out for nute burn, what do you suggest i transplant them into if they start to burn? normal potting mix?

btw thank you very much for taking the time to help me out.

Well, if he did not have any issues with it and as long as he did not dilute it with another mixture to wean the "hot" soil down then you will be fine then.

Like I said depending on the strain it may bother them, so let's hope you don't have any issues with that :)

If you do have to, you should use a seed starter mixture with a little bit FFOF mixed in with it..... 50/50 mixture of it; just make sure you do not pick a soiless mixture that has mostly peat based and mix that with 50/50 soil. You would have to use either or more of which one you picked..... so the pH won't fight each other by having half and half; soiless and soil grows have a different pH value.....

Sorry if this all sounds confusing, I just want to give ya some pointers.

You probably need magnesium since it's ocean forest. Common problem.
The droppiness is probably from being rootbound before you tranplanted or from being transplanted.
Just feed with something with magnesium in it next time it dries out. Probably not N related.

He does not have a magnesium, the middle pic looks like an issue; but it ended up being caused by his flash when he took the pic......

Magnesium is not very common on plants that size, mostly nitrogen is a more common problem on plants this size.
