Showing sex very eary, in veg!

Some of you more seasoned growers may say this is very common, I don't know. But I have never seen it. Actually, I am not good at sexing preflowers and wait until they are in flower and I am positive before trashing anything.

But these Angel Dust plants are in veg, only like 45 days from seed. I repotted and ferted two days ago, this morning I look and see balls all over one!!!







Can I assume this is female? whats up with this?

look at the balls on them guys, ive had males show sex very early in the past, they r prob allso stretching bit mor than the females. wat u veggin on? looks like 18/6 i'd guess.

On overgrow I had a thread How to sex your plants Early....

I find that most plants can be sexed in under 5 weeks...

You need to know where to look.....

and some reading glasses but its clear you could have saved yourself a transplant....

not suggesting you kill suspected males but certainly dont transplant them....

As far as your light cycle while all dont agree I find that plants under 24-0 show earlier than those on say 18-6....

24-0 seems to produce plants that want to flower(a little bit) both as clones and as seedplants....

The first signs of sex can be seen on the last complete node on the plant or higher.... make sure you check both sides of the node....

You can get a better look at the preflowers by removing the stipules....
just pull straight down and tear them off.....

they are the little triangular leaflets that cover the preflowers.....

In your second picture, you can see the plant has reached "maturity" because of the alternating branches. That, along with pre-flowers, are signs that the plant is ready to be flowered. It seems like that is the more natural way for them to do it, instead of going from 24/0 to 12/12 (when there are no signs of sex), and being forced to flower. They're ready to flower, so let them.

Well the ball baby is trashed....but the last pic.....should I assume it is a female? Or when I put it in flower, could it be a male too?

And you recommend that I put it in flower now?

That would be your choice, if the plant is as big as you want it to be going into flower the go ahead, if you want to vegg longer for a bigger plant then you can do that to, its just going to have preflowers growing thats all. Like mtnjohn said, I wish all mj plants would do this, it would save all us growers lots of time..

Most of my indicas you can spot the hairs or pods on them anywhere from 6 to 12 inches tall.

THanks for backing me up on the fact that most plants can be sexed in less than 5 weeks....

and if you notice the pic you show... shows the plant producing preflowers prior to alternating nodes.... which is the general pattern Ive found....

The pic in fact shows a well developed preflower with long pistils.... so even this plant could have been sexed a few days before the pic....

I said the majority of plants can be sexed prior to 5 weeks I really mean the vast majority.....

I am growning AK-47 as well and the two seeds i sprouted both showed sex very early, one female one male. The female quickly turned into one giant bud, thankfully I got some clones off of her before then. By the way, I heard a rumor when I bought the seeds that AK-47 was going to be discontined by serious seeds due to the company falling apart and bad care for mothers. If this is true i'll breed my two togther, if not, I'll slap the person who told me next time im up in BC.

I grew Angel Dust too, and It does show sex very early! I do believe it is auto flowering.. if you are surprised from how fast it shows its sex - wait till you see how fast the buds build up!

It would be nice for all plants to show those balls as early as possible, I don't fool with seed making and like to get rid those boys fast!
