when I had a few snakes .we would put several mice in the boa cage and bet on which one would last the longest ,go first ect,,,I raised mice/rats in the basement...we even injected a few mice once...ahh to be young and dumb.....

story and thank you man! The reticulated
pythons and boas are extremely nice &
are really intelligent, the only snakes that
are aggressive genetically/naturally coming
to mind are Blood Pythons; which like all
snakes can be tame if handled regularly
and from a baby. Though breeders I talk
to say that most of the time personalities
can remain straight from a hatchlings first
impression, if it's a brave feisty one then
they're usually going to stay that way but
of course bettering with handling. Keep in
mind that petstores are sheisty as fuck &
those people there were probably really
glad they suckered you into buying it...
I was jipped into a regular ball python
being sold as a Spotnose morph but she
was a regular though I didn't mind because
she's such a nice snake and unique regular,
but even at the time when I was uneducated
enough to be tricked into buying the 'Spotnose';
the petstore lady was also telling me that
he's a Scaleless Het. (which are 50k so even
I at the time knew it was basically bullshit).
What was shown to be the scaleless head
was actually shed from last time that still
didn't come off due to bad husbandry.....
Petsmart or PetCO it was one of them I can't
recall but their baby balls were dunking them-
selves in water trying to drown their mites..
It was really really sad and a terrible sight.
I never NEVER fuck with ANY petstores now.
If you ever consider snakes again, Ball Pythons
are an amazing option and don't get too long!!!
I'm also not afraid of my 2lb teacup chihuahua
being around my snakes, though I don't make
them interact intentionally (I'm anal about my
reptile husbandry). They're called the ball cuz
their first fight-flight instinct is to coil into one.
People in the reptile trade consider the ball a
pussy's snake because of their adult size and
temperament, and feel all manly with their
huge ass reticulateds, anacondas, and boas lol.
An absolutely perfect pet for children if they're
smart enough to keep a record of notes & dial
their enclosure and watch to make sure it's ideal
@Hold Your Fire: Bobs still at it I was thinking
of investing into a Clark animal one of these
days ESPECIALLY if I decide to man up and
get a Boa morph since that's his specialty are
the Boa and Reticulated morphs...the Cow &
Albino Lavender Reticulated pythons are some
of my favorite animals but I don't think that I'd
ever be able to house such a monolithic monster.....yet
It's in enough demand that Bobs pretty busy,
he was just giving some massive reticulated
morphs to the chuckle fucking Prince of Dubai!
@stoned-trout: I hope your boa was aggressively
hungry enough to pop em one by one quickly cuz
it's bad husbandry to leave a live rodent(s) there
especially if unattended because they can chew
the fuck out of the snake...I hope your boa didn't!

Beautiful snake pics!!! I used to have a Burmese and a Ball in my younger days. Super nice snakes. I unfortunately had to let them go to a better home. My live changed and had to work waaay to many hours. My snakes were used to being handled a lot, and I was no longer able to give them the attention they needed. Some people just go buy a snake on a whim and think all they need to do is throw em a mouse every now and then. This is NOT the case in my opinion. I loved my snakes just like I love the dogs and other critters I have now. BTW, I found a great home for them both...and gave them to that family for free.
Pre-killed rodents is the only way to go, IMO.
My boa was 8.5 feet long, and as big around as a 2 ltr. bottle she was eating large/x-large sized rats.

This is one of Bob Clark's brand new Blood morphs,
this one is called a Ruby Eye Blood and the go for
4.5k a pair (which is a discounted deal but the only
way to buy them at the moment, which I think is
smart). I like how the nose is an iridescent copper.
I also heard that Bloods sprayed which turned me
off from having one but oh my god they captivate
me a lot, just the shape of their head and how fat
they end up getting. It blows people away how fat!
I'd like to hear more about your blood python HYF.
I can't get my girl to eat P/K - F/T or anything atm.
It's so annoying when they hunger strike but this is
the only snake I'll have that will eat live all of my
others I'll have on F/T. I hate having them inside!!

I just have to upload em on the site. That takes a long while due to SUPER slow service. I live back in the woods ya see, the woman and the kids and the dogs and me.
Choom, my blood never sprayed. First I've heard of it, but it's been a few years now.
Back then there were Borneo(short tail), Malaysian black and Blood Reds. There were a few albino reds but they were waaaaay out of my price range.
She spent more time hiding than any other snake I've owned. I remember it took a while for her to start eating pinkies. I was actually getting worried, but when she got it, I was a very happy camper and she started eating and growing like a pig!!!
Bloods also like a more humid environment. I remember keeping a humidity box in her tank pretty much the whole time.

Guess I was wrong. I notice Bob is still doing work with retics. Absolutely gorgeous animals, but a giant snake is not a pet for everyone.
Even previous snake owners, really need to think it through when getting a snake of that size potential.
It's sad really, because the snake pays the price for it's owners ignorance.
Is that catnip? Cat mint? I grew this on the back deck last year. My cats would just molest it constantly when I brought it inside.

Thanks! Wish I spent more time out there with my two buddies--as the little guy is not doing very well, he has bladder cancer. But I will spend more time with the GSD--and my future fur-kids! Those two are best of buds, they went through puppy-hood together.
