Should I PH my water or runoff?

I've been PHing my water before and not checking it afterwards, but I was reading at 420 Magazine https://www.420magazine.com/forums/...ow-accurate-they-post1218154.html#post1218154

Is runoff more important than checking water before?

You will get two answers. Some say never check it, others monitor it. My best grow ever, I micro manged the runoff, to get desired runoff. I have fed 600 PPM, PH 6, and after 2 weeks had runoff 2500 PPM and 4.7 PH. I hate coco because of that, and went to RDWC. Just monitor the reservoir, and that is it.

In coco I always pH what I feed and occasionally check run off. If I see a problem with run off I compensate. I did have a problem once where run off got far to high. I ran 5.2 until it came down to something in range. Generally I worry more about salt build up as I mostly bottom feed, so check ec of run off. If it's much higher than what I'm feeding I top water with a lighter mix until the run off comes down.
