i think trellising/sogging like immortal said is your best bet
you can also flower anyting indoors for a few weeks and toss it outside-even under 18 hours of sun they'll continue to flower
as for the DC-not everyone has acess to the deep chunk-and i've seen tom grow MONSTERS from it so artifiicial manipulation play a big role

i just lay cement/trellice/chicken wire and scrog it on the ground like a vine.in hawaii to evade the greenharvest we have all done this a monster 8 footer laying and trained on it side looks like a 100 lil colas.
do the bottom branches curve up at ends and where they hit dirt
at the bend do they take root or is that where you have the cement?
