shopping for maple syrup by price instead of quality

I was once sent a little bottle of extra fine award winning maple syrup from Toronto.
it was purchaced in a farmer's market and I'm sure it had something like #00 on the bottle.
it was extremely pale in colour and had the viscosity almost of water.
it's by far the nicest syrup I have ever tasted, to the point it's was almost as if it was drinkable straight from the bottle lol
(not that I would advise it )
But if anyone has a genuine interest in nice syrup , I will by all means ask my mate where exactly he got it and if there is any way of buying online.

I prefer a thinner maple syrup. I find it more practical for my applications. (adding to dark roast coffee for example)

Like a #2 grade. So you still have the consistency and the taste...but its easier to work with...

...oh wait...is that classified as shopping by numbers then?

partially . the ratio is ok though.

what was he like 10 years old??? ..lol

Got forced to have a wierd moment with his gf that is all im saying .didn't like them both trying to use me as a wingman for that purchase then making a show outta being able to find the bottle with the lowest price

I only buy the real stuff.

I used to really like the fake shit til one day I read the ingredients it's pretty much just high fructose corn syrup, caramel coloring and maple flavoring, pretty damn deceptive.

Ok I forgot to add that the syrup sent to me was extremely fresh, I was told it's the reason for it being so pale.

Check out that companie's website and see how much shipping is. For me its not too bad. The bottles are like 24oz i think was just under $2 a bottle by the case. Hell crap cola cost $1.70 for 16oz nowadays.

I rarely drink soda so its worth it for a little treat now and then.

Maple syrup is sold by grade. At least real syrup is. Grade is based on color. Color indicates non sugar components. When the sap first runs in late Winter it is clear. If the sap boiling operation is clean and efficient the first runs are always the highest grade, the color is almost clear and the syrup has a bit of a nutty flavor. Once the buds swell as the Winter fades the subsequent runs are darker and the flavor becomes muddier. Eventually only a cooking grade is produced and the season is over.

wait until the canadians see this, jimmys will be rustled

Speak of the devil....

What's with all the pansies loving the pale maple syrup? I'll take me some Africa-black French Canadian maple syrup over that pussylip-inducing-shiet any day  40-50+:1 ratio :dance013: But then again, I also use blackstrap raw on oatmeal and such.

Just being a kunt. I love all maple syrup, and would love to try some birch syrup. Scrambled eggs and syrup

And if you're not drinking it from the bottle when no one is looking, how good can the syrup really be? ;)
