The accumulated knowledge of reality and consciousness that Buddhism has amassed is incredible.
For many different people, types and preferences, as well as levels of consciousness, there are different perspectives and methods for further development. There are also schools for people who don't like books.

There are teachings that cannot be understood purely conceptually and through book knowledge. These include, for example, initiations or skillful tantric remedies that work on a level that is difficult to comprehend if you have not experienced it. Some of these remedies will last beyond this lifetime.

However, there are four major traditions of Tibetan Buddhism: the Kagyu, Sakya, Nyingma, and Gelugpa. Each school has its own particular approach. The Gelug school (Dalai Lama), for example, emphasizes learning and scholarship producing great scholars, where the Kagyu school emphasizes meditation and is known therefore as the “practice lineage” school. They give direct instructions on recognizing the nature of mind and do not provide thorough background information on the teachings.
Interestingly, the latter school has mastered the largest number of realizations. But if the methods don’t fit, you don’t get resukts. So there is something for everybody.

I started to take an interest in these topics when everything I had built up gradually fell apart again, like sand flowing through your hand. And I got to know some personalities who are really stable, joyful even in difficult situations and have a lot of surplus for other people.

I think you are asking about Madhyamaka, which was founded by Nagarjuna.
The school teaches the middle way between the extremes of 'eternal existence' and 'complete non-existence'. It explains that everything arises in dependence on causes and conditions and has no independent existence, but can nevertheless be experienced.”

I'm not familiar with that sort of thing. Everyone thinks of monasteries and monks, but that's a cultural peculiarity of Tibet that doesn't work well in Europe and America. The teachers have reorganized everything to allow lay Buddhism on a large scale. As a result, you can practice for yourself alongside your job and family and receive teachings and take part in group meditations in between. It works quite well for people.

True.
But you have to practice methods that fit your situation on a regular basis to get results.
You can't use monastic methods and have a job. And you don't need the rituals they are exercising at home. I don't want to say, that they don't work.
In Western countries, there are hardly any monasteries that are supported by the community as in Asia. Monks often have to survive economically on their own, which contradicts the Vinaya (monastic rules), which prohibits monks from working or owning money.
