The delica van is booked in for a new cylinder head and a few other bits. Gets towed on Friday.

There's only two garages in the country that specialise in delicas, Melbourne or Queensland and I'm somewhere in the middle, so it's a tad pricey for the tow alone.

Plan is to get it kitted out for adventure after I gutted it for work. Then do some remote camping and exploring with the family, stuff the little ones will never forget.

That's the best thing about this country, but year after year they're closing off more trails, more of the bush and there's more coppers with dirt bikes and 4 wheel drives looking to defect you in the middle of nowhere.

Babylon and their revenue raising can't be escaped!!

Wouldn't have thought it could be so complicated to open up an engine and replace a few cylinders. I know from the bike that you have to synchronize them. On the other hand, it's not rocket science.
Is it such a special engine or do you simply have few mechanics in your area?

I wish you lots of fun with your family.

I'm pretty good with 2 strokes and basic maintenance of vehicles, filters, oil changes and all that but felt like I'd come unstuck attempting this project.
They're Japanese imports, tight engine bay and most Aussie mechanics hate working on them.

This place specialises in only these and is a global parts distributor so if a problem arises along the way they should be able to solve it. That's my logic anyway...

The old delica 4wd is a tough looking beast mate.

Very cool getting the kids into the on/off road lifestyle, camping, exploring dirt bike riding, surfing and all that good stuff.

Precious moments, Enjoy it

WA still wide open mate ;)

$3500-$5000. Fucking expensive!!
Import vehicle...
The way I look at it, I'd rather put the money into something enjoyable.
The work vehicle has a lot on the clock and is gonna become a problem soon, plus a delica commands a certain level of respect on the big conveyor belt and is still sign written.
yeah man is that like fred dibnahs van? i'm trying to picture one

Wicked!
I got a mate in Perth and the Mrs's sister is up near Dampier.
WA is like another country.

Love all the old Malcom Douglas adventures up that way. He's another one like Fred.
