i will germ the peach x oldtimers next. i'm downsizing to save electric costs . so instead of 2 x 315 watt , i will only be using one after the next grow. that's cool with me for the time being. i just have alot of bills to pay and will cut down my consumption of weed a bit to balance it. i have a few close mates that grow for themselves , and they all have been given a few of each oldtimer crosses to work through in their own time

the peach sounds super lovely, definitely one of a kind, nice that its got the flavour and the headspace. happy for you that you got the cut that really fits the breeders description. i wonder what it takes to be breeding for consistency, huge fields probably,.. and good luck too, of course you got to have skills aswell..
ive been thinking a lot about breeding lately.
listened to a podcast a week ago or so, forgot the name but they had heavy daze from the potcast on, discussing about breeding, i mean you can try and go to F8 or somerhing, but sometimes it doesnt mean anything, if you dont select wisely..
fem or regular pollen, doesnt really matter if you ask me.
might aswell do some crispy F1s.
or just pollen chuck and get lucky or run enough seeds to find what you like.
in the end asexual propagation(?) is the way to consistency.... if that is what people really want. i'd like some consistency for a change, i mean the whole planet is turning upside down every other day, might as well have the comfort of predictable taste and headspace.
variety is the spice of life they say though, not sure if that means that you have to go through packs of the same cultivar to find what youve been sold in the first place.
but maybe thats just the nature of the herb, its strong tendency to survive no matter what. like if you want it you need to put a ring on it and keep a clone, care for it so it can be multiplied, put some mentainance on it, not be 'lazy' or convenient and keep seeds just in case. the chance of getting the exact same plant is next to nothing¹⁰⁰⁰.

anyways, peach x OTH sounds even more exciting now. hope you and your mates find something worth keeping.

as a grower , f1's are great pal and predictable . The hard part is finding the parents and keeping them alive longterm to consistantly recreate the winning combination. for conservation , you want lots of numbers and use open pollination . You also need large numbers if you want to make your own hybrids to select the studs and mothers. thats why us small growers are classed as pollen chuckers. We can get lucky though finding good parents from lower numbers. breeder steve is doing a million seed pheno hunt in columbia i think, imagine the keepers he will find in that lot. Breeder steve grows out his males and even smokes the male flowers to find his regular males. The feminized route allows shortcuts and makes it easier for people to select two parents , but i find regular seeds better , and mother plants from regular seed are more stable. you can line breed for flavours and certain traits and to fix them you would hav eto go beyond f6 at least , but you can lose vigour and bottleneck if the selctions are from small populations and using single lines. i'm no expert , and i just keep it simple. make my own ibls for stock , f1s and polyhybrids to grow and smoke. any winning combinations i can recreate and i can outcross every season for different combos and not worry about making a stable strain. my leb hybrids i will grow outside and i will pollinate the ones that finish in my climate against each other. and do that for a few seasons . cousins back into each other for a hybrid suited to my climate and half leb. f2s is as far as intend taking any hybrids as i dont have space or intention to stabilize. i love f1s and f2s of classic combinations. the leb x oldtimer haze is a true f1 . they should be interesting to see grow. if i'm buying seed i tend to buy ibls, or f1s. i decided just to make my own batches of seeds to grow out and have fun with , and just concentrate on f1s f2s and random polyhybrids . cant go wrong with that. when i grow these hindu kush cheese , only then will i know if the male i selected was any good . and if it was not a great choice i have to start again. feminised seed kind of cuts that out , but has its own complications. Again i'm not an expert so i'm staying in my regular f1 making lane , and as a grower thats all we need anyway . f1s rock

early skunk wasa n f1 hybrid , i'm pretty sure that was inbred and stableized or they just use same strain different parents, or the same parents to make the same f1 , but i doubt . i'm hitting the early skunk with oldtimer haze too. i wish i had cloned the utopia to pollinate that also. The columbian x old mother ghani are f1 . i will make f2s out of that and reveg the best utopia , and polliante the utopia with the columbian ghani , and also stick in the peach cheese and earlyskunk with that. Then thats it for a year or two while i work my way through them all. The good thing about using haze to pollinate th e peach is that the haze is easy to identify , so if i want to do a bx to the peach and have more chance of a peach dom male, i can identify the haze dom ones and just use the peach looking males for that process. even that though is not always accurate. i will flower out the peach looking ones and get a real smell of them all in full flower and go from there

yeah , should be a good smoke. smells nice. some amber trichs . mainly milky. I only second run a plant if they are solid stable.

i will pick up some soil this week and pot up the violetas and hindukush x cheese . i will take down the silverhp88 , peach and cheese next week once they have faded more and finished off more and put the hkxcheese and violeta straight into 12 12 with the remaining utopia

one of the cheese plants chopped today @63 days. i dont want anymore fade on her as when her inner leaves yellow it becomes a chore to trim it out . About right how it is. I have one more cheese left that needs a few more days.
