Shelby finished the complete car, except the engine.
I rolled it on to a trailer & took it home.
There is a world renowned Ford racing engine builder here in Nor Cal. His specialty is old 'Ford fe' engines. All the nostalgia racers use his engines. I "commissioned' him to build & install the engine. I wanted an old school original engine block from back in the day, that I could race!
The cost for an original, 1966 Ford fe 'side-oilier' bare engine block was $5500.
$27,000 later I drove it around the block for the first time, 603hp OMG!
I am going to be honest. That thing would scare the ever absolute shit out of me. Those are true purist roadsters. I bet the back could step out pretty quick.
Yes! I couldn't drive it without a full tank of gas. It got real squirrelly with less than 1/2 tank!

There was a 30'ish couple that showed-up at one of the Cobra Club breakfast/meetings one Sat morning. The wife was a leggy blonde bombshell MILF. They both begged for rides after the meeting. So she hopped into my Shelby & her husband into another & off we went.
I did not spare the horses, (hey I was trying to impress her) & really hammered it! Went for about a 10 min ride & back to the parking lot. I mean, I scared myself a couple times.
She was absolutely quiet when we stopped. Just before her husband returned in the other Cobra, she leaned over & kissed me HARD on the mouth.
It was after I got home I noticed the big wet spot on the passenger seat!
Goddamn, Doublejj, That is an awesome car! I've wanted a Shelby Cobra since I first started to drive. Sounds like it was as much of a blast to drive as I imagined.
