She is dying, PLEASE help!

Should I pull the bad leaves?

Should I pull the bad leaves?

Should I pull the bad leaves? The only reason I ask is because some of them look really bad, more than 50% which is what I read..... The only reason I ask is because I know they yellow during flowering, but if they are crispy and dead, they arent doing anything anymore, correct?

I am starting my flush tomorrow and will pull in about 10 days. They are currently at day 40 of flower, and I will pull them at 50-55 days, depending how long I can go without them dying on me :badday: Most of the trich's are cloudy atm and as much as I would like to bring them to 70 days, Im not sure it will make it.

HYDROPONICS

How long has this problem been going on? 2-3 weeks
Are you growing in a PVC grow tent? (example: Hydrohut or any other non brand tents)-no

The hydrohut has NEVER been made out of PVC. It was polyurethane!

^ Umm, what? I just want to know if I should pull the leaves that are more than 50 percent dead, I'm not interested in Hydrohuts, but thanks anyway.

I could've swore that I posted here once before. Eh, deja vu! So, too the point, I have a list you may find of interest. If anything I can say this; IME, 100% accurate. Excluding insect assault, I've been able to track each deficiency as it arose using this list... and the good forum here at ICAG, of course...

You said something about "crispy"... this chart could help... maybe now, maybe later... HAVE A LIGHT CHART! I think it would be in Centimeters.

Thank you both very much for the replies and help, the light chart will help me and I will pull the worst of the leaves off. I can't give rep, but I will as soon as I get my other posts in thanks again!

heys smokes, as far as i can tell, besides the leaf thing i would say that the plants are looking fine. now im gonna give you a tip that i use and i use it because it works and ill tell you why.

well because im running SSH ive noticed that its bushy ass hell, half way thru i pulled off all of the fan leaves off of the main stem/trunk of teh plant and left teh other side branch fan leaves alone.

my reason for doing this is so that most of the energy thats made will be made by the fan leaves next to the bud sites and not just to the overall plant itself.

my thinking behind this is that, those leaves are used to make energy BUT they do block light from the other bud sites on the lower part of the plants. i honestly did notice that the tops that were not gettin light before definitely are frosty as hell as we speak!! its as though once the big fan leaves were gone, the other fan leaves picked up the slack; the way i look at it is that the smaller leaves work more efficiently than the larger fan leaves since they are right at the bud sites.

now if you want i would suggest you pull the fan leaves off of at least one of the plants to see if the same could be beneficial to the strain your working with (sorry didnt read before as to what your running).

and as far as the leaves that are looking bad, i would bet that they are the ones that are on the main stem of the plant, but i dont mind being wrong. . . . . .but if they are i would say to go ahead and pull them off, ALL off!! (remember the main stem fan leaves only, since they are going to be the ones that are going to die off first), to give your plants a lil boost. i even pulled the main fan leaves off of my ORANGE BUD plant and i saw a difference in that as well. thing is if you have thick long colas like the SSH then you are gonna want to leave to fan leaves alone since they are the powerhouse for those tops,, but the single side branches where teh side branch meets teh main stem and theres that fan leaf, is fair game to pull off

and word to the wise when you pull off the dead leaves of if you decide to pull the fan leaves off, then pull off THE WHOLE LEAF STEM AND ALL. im due for some pics on my diary this run ,so ill try to take some pics of one of the plants since i did it to all of them.

what i want to try and do is at the last or the middle of the second to last week i may go ahead and:1. pull the fan leaves off of the side branches where the bud sites are, 2. since it will only aid in giving a bigger boost and the plants are near done anyway, 3. and it would help with trimming

hope all of this helps man

Yes indeed it does help! I wish I would have read it earlier though, because I took off many of the leaves you mentioned, but I didnt take the stems off..... Hopefully this doesn't come back to haunt me with budrot or something like that.... Oh well, live and learn right?

Im interested in the results if you do the experiment with your fan leaves and removing them.... Im a new grower who likes to experiment; think of me as a neverending sponge of information, I just can't get enough of it lol.
BTW, whats the earliest you have pulled a plant? I mean how many days flowering and what strain was it?

AS PROMISED. . .

AS PROMISED. . .

it like i said, it was time for a lil update for my SSH diary anyway, so its a good thing i caught your tread when did, here are those shots i was tellin you about. . .

heres one if forgot about, if you woudl have asked me if i swear on my grow that i took them all off, you would have had yourself a nice lil crop but oh well

just a couple more shots of the leaves taken off. . .

well heres a few of where they are now, this is 2 days into the 9th week. .

now like i said i could be wrong but teh boost when those leaves came off was undeniable, and heres the ORANGE BUD i threw in there to get a taste, also with some of the bigger fan leaves taken off and some of the stems were bent about a week ago, i was gonna chop it down so i took of the leaves but look at it then. . .

and look at it now (the plant dead center with the dark leaves). . ..

hope this helps a lil bit

I don't grow hydro, but Ive had plants that looked identical to that plant, color, course, hardened leaf texture, general and increasing fatigue. The plants were in 5 gallon soil and I believe i burned them with ferts somehow. I've assumed this because I had several plants in buckets at the time but only those that i pushed with nitrogen 1 extra time contracted the condition.
I flushed the soil but I couldn't reverse the condition and had to harvest the plants at around 45 days because like yours, they seemed to be on their last leg. All buckets contained the same strain and I believe if the ph had been problematic, all buckets would have shown the problem.

10k's comments are interesting. I was so convinced of nute burn.....

Thanks for the comments Silver, and thanks again Friend!
I harvested the cheese plant today, and found some Powdery Mildew on it while I was cutting it.... The area that has PM is in a corner of the plant, and I found it in lower, shaded areas.... I also have read that if you are seeing the PM, it has been there for at least a week or 2. My question is if I remove the buds that are near the PM'd leaves (it's only on fan leaves that I can see) will the other buds be safe? Again, I dont see a lot of it, but I am a bit concerned as I have asthma and I'm not trying to take too big a chance here. This is also my first harvest so I also REALLY wanna smoke what I think is "safe".... Any comments suggestions would be appreciated thanks!

thats a damned good question smokes. um. . . i am trying to think of what to tell you so that you dont lose your whole crop man. the healthcare worker in me is sayin to just trash the whole grow whether it was in a small corner or not; the grower/ smoker in me is sayin just smoke rolled up with a fiber filter (like a cigarette filter) and you should be ok.

IMO i dont wanna tell you "oh well its up to you" since there has to be a definitive answer to the question. . .. . . ..bruh, best i can tell you is to do a ssearch on here and see if anyone else has either done it or has contemplated smoking herbs with PM on or near it and see what they say.

if i remember correctly to deal with powdery mildew you would use a sulfur burner, i think, but do search and collect some opinions.

yo highlander! let me know if you see any noticable boosts or changes. i know i did. and for a sativa it responded by going out instead of up which is what it should have considering its sativa dominant.

i would imagine a indica or indica dominant strain would truly bush out alot! either way, let me know.
