Sexing a large number of Plants

I recently planted around 180 seeds in small 4" plastic square containers and will be planting more soon. I would like to know the best way to sex them before i put them outside if that's possible? Because I really don't want to have to dig a whole bunch of holes and use up space/resources on the males if i don't have to lol. Should i force flower them indoors once the reach maturity soon to reveal sex? I just don't want to stop growth waiting for them to reveg. Because doesn't it retard growth for about a month waiting for them to regain vegetative vigor? Sorry for all the questions and banter.

depending on how many extra seeds i've popped i double to triple plant each hole.

most plants including long flowering sativas indicate by the time they are knee/thigh high.

some plants are runts. some too stretchy or have other issues. nice to be able to select for vigor, phenotype as well as sex.

you can often transplant a few from double to triple female holes into holes that had no good females before they get too big if you are careful about it..

preflowering is not advisable imo for the reasons you have stated.

4" pots are pretty small. once a plant goes rootbound you will get some stunting; not good. you can up-pot into larger containers until plant sex's and shows desireable attributes (keeper). transplanting from up-pots into bare holes is easy and works well.

most experienced outdoor growers keep their potted plants under long hours artificial light until june and then start transplanting.

next year you could go fem seeds; easy to make them yourself. lots of threads here on how to.

I wasn't too concerned about using regular seeds at first because i had a lot of room and time. But all of a sudden the place where i had them at got sold. so i had to completely alter my plans and move the plants somewhere with much less space until i find a new location. Well you live and you learn lol.
