Sex Grenade, aka Mirage (Lemon G x Dr Hoffman) - Nerds Genetics

Is it just me or does it seem like the flood gates have been opened lately for Lemon G (Ohio cut) crosses? It's wild.

Great looking bud, keep up the great work.

Any chance of any seeds being made out of this cross?

I believe that Nerds genetics has some. I plan on making my own, crossing this with Wedding Cake and maybe a couple of other crosses. Ideally I'd like to make a stable bx similar to the cut itself.

Is there a reason you wouldn't want to self it? (S1) people seem afraid to do this, but I have not been able to find a reason not to. That's what Brothers Grimm does now. Serious 180 from their previous attitudes towards it, I listened to a podcast (dude grows show) where he talked about having feared it would create hermaphrodites, but was taught that that's not true and has been converted. Now we have Princess and Cindy 99. May I ask where you can find Nerds Genetics?

I may self it, but to me there's not much reason to do so, since I hold the cut and I don't plan on selling seeds. IMO S1 seeds do not consistently represent the parent's attributes due to recessive genes and such. I'm more interested in finding a suitable male parent from a different set of genetics to cross this cut with, then grow out those F1 seeds and begin backcrossing with the original cut. There is much better stability in the resulting seeds that way, although it does take multiple generations of backcrossing to get there.

One strain I'm considering looking for a good male from is Humboldt Seed Company's "Lemongrass" (which is their Gelato crossed with their Lemon Kush). https://www.leafly.com/strains/lemongrass

I do also plan to make some fem crosses, likely crossing this cut with Wedding Cake and also with ChemOG, so I may do S1's at the same time.

As far as where you can find Nerds Genetics, they list their retailers online here: https://nerdsgenetics.com/retailers/

It looks like their main focus is WhoOody (pronounced "whoa dee!") crosses these days. I also have that cut which is like a stout early flowering strawberry OG, which I've only flowered once outdoors, but my wife loves it. https://darkheartnursery.com/strains/whooody/

I hit the DHN cut of it and didn’t get many seeds, about a dozen from each strain. I used a Coastal Haze Male and a Skunk 18 male, about 2 weeks after buds started forming. Everything other plant (strain) I hit with the pollen would give me a 100-200 seeds per lower branch. So the Mirage/Sex Grenade didn’t like pollen for me so much. This was an outdoor organic garden.

Flavor and taste are great!

Good to know. I wonder if it might work better the other way around, reversing the Mirage to get pollen and hitting the others with it instead.
