Hey Braddah,
There are a thousand recipes for making iso hash.
I start with a quart jar of trim and fill it about 1/2 way with 91% isopropyl and shake it for about 45 seconds. I then strain the mix through a metal coffee filter into a measuring cup collecting the liquid and discarding the plant matter. You can squeeze the plant matter to get all the iso out before tossing it.
I then pour the liquid through a paper coffee filter and let it drain into another container.
Once the liquid has drained through the paper filter (takes about 1/2 an hour), I pour the liquid into a pyrex dish to evaporate. You can speed up the evap process by putting the pyrex on top of a pot of hot water letting the steam heat the pyrex. If you use the double boiler method, keep the heat low so you dont toast the cannabinoids. I dont turn the heat over 3 on the stove dial. I also use a laser infrared thermometer to keep track of the liquid temp. I try to keep the liquid below 160F.
Once all the alcohol and water have evaporated, take a razor blade and scrape up the resin in the bottom of the container.
Sticky heaven.

Chomp,
Last night was a different story. I had popcorn, a frozen pizza and a bowl of icecream after midnight. Nothing like waking up all bloated and greasy.

another way i find easier is to get some denatured alcohol its 100% well 99% pure alcohol, they add something in it so you don't drink it.
anyway take your trim and what not and put it into a jar/bowl etc, pour in some alcohol to cover most of it. cover the jar or whatever and shake for like 20-30 seconds then pour the alcohol onto a plate and wait for it to evaporate. shouldnt take more than 20 minutes or so. scrape and enjoy.

Chop

Chop

Last night I took a few sample sugar leaves and put them under the 30x loupe. Probably 10-20% amber. Decided today was the day and eagerly woke up to perform the dreaded trim.

I thanked my lady for her lovely work and got busy. :thank you:

Before we go there, here's some pics from last night before the chop.

As I said, not a great yielder but over 4x the yield when I grew her in soil. Total wet weight was 155.6g with another 41g of trim and popcorn.

Since I'm a glutton for low yield punishment, here's another clone of her after about 20 days of veg ready for round 2 in the cab. I'm gonna veg another week to see what that does for yield. Hopefully I can avoid the nute burn from last time for some prettier buds.

Thanks to all who stopped by to watch my first full run at hydro. I learned a lot from your input. Hope you enjoyed my little grow. :tiphat:

there is plenty more locked up in there bud. not burning them will give you probably 15% more. IMHO, try to get the HPS closer earlier in flower for tighter inter node spacing and less stretch. i would also attempt to top them early on in veg to get them to grow a bit more laterally with the benefit of a few more shoots and cram as many primary shoots in there as possible.

Very sweet harvest Sarge k+ to you bro! :woohoo:

I hate the dreaded trim, man....you spend all that time taking care of them and worrying about every different little change in color on a leaf, and then hack the crap out of it....and besides that it's a pain in the ass :D

What do you have coming up next?
