1989 - 'The 2nd Cannabis Cup'.*The 2nd High Times Cannabis Cup featured the same four seed companies that had participated in the very first edition of the Cup; Super Sativa Seed Club, Sensi Seed Club, the Seed Bank and 'Cultivators Choice'. This time, though, there were more entries and the number of judges rose from three to six, including Ed Rosenthal and Patty Collins. The Awards Dinner was held at the Yum-Yum restaurant, and the Seed Bank swept all awards.

These are the results of the 2009 High Times Cannabis CupCategory*1st Prize2nd Place3rd Place*****Mostly Indica*Cup*'Big Bud x*Skunk No.1'*******Mostly Sativa*Cup*(Early Pearl x*Skunk #1) x (Northern Lights 5 x Haze)*******Pure Indica Cup*'Northern Lights No.1'*******Pure Sativa Cup*'Haze x South African Sativa'

That confirms pretty much what we thought :)

Silver Haze = Early Pearl x Skunk #1 x Northern Lights 5 x Haze

Are they are talking about Silver Haze here or something else? It doesn't fit with Sensi's description on s**dfinder. It is not supposed to have any skunk in it, nor early pearl.

Silver haze is the bomb. We take it between 70 and 84. 77 days being a sweet spot. The 70 day is a smooth sailing smoke, 84 it creeps and ya better hold on to your hat. Incense, pine, a little fruit. this is a vintage cut, and Ive run enough “elites” to say most can’t touch her.

I have 2 Silver Haze clones. Ones called S5, the other is called Amnesia.

This its S5, found in a selection grow by breeders in south holland.

Silver Haze is 1 step away from a pure Thai so I read somewhere. Thai Afghan,
I'm doubtful that is the reality as it totally conflicts with all the evidence, and Spaventa's pic looks nothing like a thai. It does however, look like a 50/50 cross of NL and haze which is how Sensi describes it

https://www.zamnesia.com/blog-best-outdoor-strains-to-grow-in-spain-n1309 Here's where I read it whilst looking for suitable genetics for my OD

I know of a fella with the old coffee shop cutting what looks totally different to that in this thread.. The leaves are wide not slender like the old stuff.

If you clic the link you will see they are referring to to a different Silver haze, Silver Haze#9 feminised. Silver Pearl died years ago so its a completely different strain. Thats what that information was referring to - thats the only possibility. Anyways, S5 is old, original Silver Haze, its appearance is classic Silver Haze imo.

Silver pearl is a 3 way hybrid of early pearl,skunk#1 and northern lights.
silver pearl x haze =silver haze.
sensi state they crossed haze to a non dominant indica to reduce the flowering time but still retain the the unique sativa qualities.
sensi dropped silver haze for a short time from there catalogue only to reintroduce it back after a few years.
Go check out hemp embassy they do a good time lapse video of sensis most recent offering of silver haze.:)

I have s1's of some Silver Pearl that I brought to Spain. I have 4 varieties with me. They're really old but I have a full vile a few hundred, they're some big seeds. I'll do a germ test soon. I heard that Silver Pearl was Silver Haze mom x Early Skunk...

Old thread, but good to remember that there is Pollyanna in the silver haze.

“Pollyanna was a stabilized early maturing Colombian X Mexican NLD hybrid from the Sierra foothills, according to Robert Clarke.

He also crossed Early Girl X Pollyanna in order to create Early Pearl. Being the Early Girl a Mexican X Afghan hybrid from coastal NorCal.”

I have 3 different phenos from silver haze s1’s she gave 5-6yrs back. The original cut from the mid-Atlantic is extinct, but looks like one out of my 3 is very close to our old cut- narrow leaves with similar spice/floral/pine terps

I grew one of the selfed seeds prob 4 years ago and it was a good n piney yielder but leaned more indica.

Supposedly there is another vintage silver haze down in Georgia.

I had two silver haze phenos from 2002

One more NL leaning, lighter green wider longer leaves which i didnt like at all, fuzzy head high, confusing, feeling down, not nice to smoke.

The other one was haze like, dark thin leaves, pine tasting. Great mind/mood elevating smoke with nice energy that made you want to hug everyone. Great giggly summer weed.

It was a pleasant surprise smoking the nicer one. Much better than the subsequent shuper shilver hazshe.

I think you ( @exoticrobotic ) might be on to something. I too thought Silver Haze was quite different from most of the Haze hybrids I have tried that are related to it via the male. Silver Pearl was really good on it’s own and quite different to NL5 clone though it was the mother of Silver Pearl. The father of Silver Pearl was Early Pearl x Skunk#1 which was also sold by The Seed Bank as early as 1986 under the name Early Skunk.
