Senor Garcia

What can I say about the Senor Garcia. As a whole, it was not a very robust seed pack. Only about half of the seeds sprouted and all but one were male. I did make a nice cross with one male to a Sour Diesel female.

The lone female was definitely preferring very light nutrients. She showed some of the crinkle leaf typical of the Oregon Purple Thai. Surprisingly, she stretched very little in flower. In hindsight, this one is best to veg for a long time with topping before flowering to maximize yield. I have a small clone that I just harvested and left a few bud sites on. We'll see if I can reveg her.

The aroma of the finished bud is like the old cereal fruity pebbles or maybe like a children's vitamin. Very sweet as well upon vaporizing. The fruity vitamin flavor lingers on the palate.

The high is very nice and uplifting. A very electric sativa high, but still has a small amount of body to it. Great day time herb. Clarity of thought is maintained, though too much can cause a bit of jittery feeling and thoughts jumping quickly.

5 for growing
7.5 for potency
8.5 for flavor

One of the strains I'd never thought I'd see a report on !!! Awesome to see somebody got the little white-ish green seeds to germ . I grabbed five of those seeds when they were available and four didn't pass the pinch test . The last one is very pale white , still in my seed box , hoping it will pop when the time comes . Thanks for the report :)

Thanks trichburner, I'm going to try and reveg the plant I've got going. If it works, then I may try to get clones going. I think it's a sativa leaning plant worth keeping around with a very unique flavor, large calyx production, minimal stretch and finishes in about 12-13 weeks.

I hope you get that last seed going. I don't know of any other grow/smoke reports other than the one I did. If you go to Ace's thread and look for my Ace Haze Daze thread. I document the Senor Garcia in that thread as it was the only 'non Ace' plant I was growing at the time.

Good Luck!

UHN, good to see that you've created smoke report thread for this strain after my PM. :) Any plans for Garcia x OT1 Haze or other hazey crosses? OPT x Panama x Oldtimers Haze sounds delicious

Yes, sativagrower. I decided to put the pm to good use and get the report out in the public eye. Thanks for spurring me on. I will have to see if the plant I have will reveg if there is any hope for future work. I think a cross to OTH1 would be divine. The male Senor Garcia I crossed out to Sour Diesel resulted in plants that flowered out past 16 weeks, so I wouldn't expect much reduction in flowering times, but would think it would create a long branching plant of sweet, sour and spice. A purple leaning OTH1 cross would be amazing.

Cheers,

Mr. Fantastic

Nice pics and report! How old are these seeds? I ran them back in '04 had a very creamy orange aroma, very good smoke.

Mr. Fantastic,

'04 sounds about right. I tried growing them over the years and either they didn't pop or when they did, they were lanky males. The last seed in the pack sprouted in 2010 and was the lone female. I'm hopiong she will reveg, because it's definitely worth keeping.

Any pics of yours that you can share? I'd love to hear more...
